hello
im planning to buy Onkyo 805
i think it wont handle the LSI series unless i buy amp. which i dont want to do.

so i looked into the lower range. RTI8 and RTI6 shelf
my room isnt that big. i dont know how much is the difference between them.

my system should be like this, please help me selecting the best set
RTI8 or RTI6 (fronts)
CSi5 or CSi3 (center)
RTI4 or RTI 6 or bose cubes (surrounds)
subwoofer (not sure , PSW505 is it good?)

i will use this system for PS3,xbox360 gaming and HD movies, so im getting the extra 2 surrounds for 7.1.

;)

I would just get LSis,if u can afford them, and later buy amp. or even better monoblocks.this way you dont have to spend all the money right away.

Why not get a lower Onkyo with Pre-outs such as the 705 and use the price difference toward a amp or pair of mono-blocks?

the Onkyo, will drive the Lsi's just fine untill you get an external amp.

I wouldnt even concider the Bose cubes for surrounds.

The Rti4 would do just fine, Along with the Csi5 and 8's as front. But if you decide to go Lsi, try to stick with Lsi for center as well and you can still get the Rti4's as surrounds, maybe later move to the LsiFx or Lsi7.

    Monitor 4's surround
Frankinpolk Center (2 mw6503's with peerless tweeter)
    M10's back surround

    Tempest-X 15" DIY sub w/ Rythmik 350A plate amp
Dayton 12" DVC w/ Rythmik 350a plate amp
    Harman/Kardon AVR-635
    Oppo 981hd
    Denon upconvert DVD player
    Jennings Research (vintage and rare)
    Mit RPTV WS-55513

    I hear ya...

In that case you can stick with the Rti sieries... I would go 8 front and 5 middle and 4 surround.

But I still dont see a problem driving the Lsi with the Onk...

budget is not the problem, its the avalibility.
i know there is high end subwoofer (like svs)
but its not avalible in my country, im only limited to small selection
and one of them are PSW505, i also saw infinity subwoofer, boston,Paradigm i dont remember the other brands. i dont want a subwoofer what shake the house, but one which give Life to movies/games etc.

    What country are you in?

Is VMPS avaliable there? Or HSU?

If you want to stick with Polk, check out the new DSW PRO 600.

I would suggest if you're gonna do LSi9 up front then LSiC for your center. If you're wanting to stick with bookshelves for your fronts why not try out the RTi A3 for your fronts?

If you stick with RTi's and have a small room - I will be a lone voice to say to with fronts and rears of RTi6's with a CSi5 center. Should sound absolutely great for multi-channel music or movies.

I would not go with the 505 personally - The new Polk subs (as in new this year) are supposed to be decent but I have not heard them. I would put them in a "I will believe it when I hear it" catagory for now. Outlaw, SVS, HSU, Ed (elemental Designs) and Epik seem to be the names thrown about as great subs...

    Michael
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)
