Are you using the rears side by side or are you using the dipoles as middlles and rears? For middle speakers they are fine, but I'm not sure if it is all that common to use them as rears....maybe someone else can clarify since I do not run 7.1 myself.

    Yes.

I believe diffuse sound fields was the whole point of bipole/dipole speaker designs.

The only reason to prefer non-bipole/dipole speakers in the rear (all other things being equal) is if you want to localize sounds with more accuracy like with instruments in music IIRC.

If your trying to get the most diffused sound field than your doing fine. The trick is in placement in relation to your sitting position and height.Of coarse your room has a thing or two to do with it also.So whats the big mess?Surely(don't call me shirley),there has to be more to this.

I assume you mean use 1 pair of dipole speakers as side surrounds and another pair of dipole speakers as rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup.... If so - yes, it should work very well.

The first change I would recommend (way before changing your surround speakers) would be getting a center to match your front speakers. For now though - just hook it up and enjoy.

Yeah,I can understand that.Lots of info out there that doesn't jive.Polk Audio and this forum, have been in the HT buisness for a very long time and any info gathered here is golden.Without seeing a picture of your room, all the response you get will be generalized. If your sitting position is set,you can have one set of speaks about 5-6 ft high and to your side.Another set behind you at the same height.Do not secure to a wall untill you demo a movie and like what you hear. You may have to move them a tad this way or that way.Because we don't know what the room looks like,it's kinda hard to go on from here.Furniture in your room, windows, open on one side to another room, carpet or wood floors, all have an effect on the sound.Alot of trial and error is needed on your part to decide what you like.Let your ears be the judge, and you won't go wrong.

use the trapizoid shaped ones for sides.. the box ones for rears. not to tough there.

there really isn't a whole good reason for even going 7.1 most movies are only 5.1 at best. so most of your movie watching won't even utilize the two rear speakers. but since you got em. hook em up.

    enjoy

    this is how it looks like from top... 16' (L) X 12(W) X 8(H)
And i've put my speakers this way as you can see .... is there any adjustment i should make????

p.s i've put 3 speakers in front at my ear's level and sides, rears at 5' which is 1.5' above my ear's level....
