Also, its much easier to integrate your mains if you high pass your mains --

And the x30 takes NOTHING away from the signal that I can hear

It allows you to easilly do this

So you use the Crown as a crossover and the x-30 as a high pass filter and volume control

REL Storm III is the best "musical" sub I've ever heard. The cheaper Strata would also be a good choice if you wanted stereo subs.

ACI Titan or Force are supposed to be great with music also.
    Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

    Hey,

What's the buzz on Epik subs? People seem to be recommending them, but I haven't found any reviews. How do they compare with SVS and HSU? They look very similar to sVS other than the 15 inch drivers.

Here's another good option: Von Schweikert VR-S1; small, sealed 10" with a 300W amp. VERY fast and musical. And the finish is beautiful.

They were discontinued, but there's a guy selling new ones for around $700 each on ebay; reliable seller. he also sells in Audiogon.
