RTxxi question.

According to Polk's site the RTxxi series was only available in Black and Maple finish. However recently I've seen a couple pair of RT35i on eBay that have a cherry finish. Did they switch to cherry later in production? If so has anyone ever seen a pair of RT25i's in cherry. I have a friend that would really like to have a pair, and I'm just trying to do a little research for him.

The RTxxi series was always available in cherry. Here is the description page for the RT25i.

    http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/rt25i/

Midway down the page you will find the following paragraph:

Wood at Vinyl prices - The first thing you'll notice about the RTi Series is their luxurious real wood finishes: beautiful light Maple, inviting Cherry, and serious Black Oak (the RT15i, one of our smaller bookshelf speakers, is also available in white). What will really surprise you, though, is that you won't pay a premium for these distinctive real wood finishes. We offer these rich finishes at prices you'd normally pay for vinyl.

(I actually have a pair of RT15is in the white finish)

You will find this description for each and every RTxxi speaker on Polk's site. I have seen the RT25i in cherry. Here is a picture of one from the Stereophile review:

Other than the white, the maple finish may be the rarest of the woods. I don't recall that I've ever actually seen a RTxxi in maple.

I guess I just assumed that they would have included pictures of all available finishes.

This pair of maple RT25i's is what kinda started this discussion with my buddy.
I spent all day fighting the urge to click the Buy-it-Now. Fortunately someone else bought them before I did.

I think someone on here had RT600i's in maple. I could swear by it. long time ago though.

I don't think the maple finish was used on the following generation of RTiXXX though IIRC

That's correct. Just black and cherry.
