So this weekend I'll be disassembling my old living room system and starting something totally new. Not sure what I'm going to do yet (probably will combine the two systems), but here is the old system:

Will be missed.

so you're going to just dissassemble this one and be without one till you figure out what to do? you're a better man than I am. I'd only do that if I needed to sell everything to afford a new one. I can't imagine not having a home theater or something decent to listen with till a new one was thought out, bought and installed.

good luck, i'm anxious to see your new HT rig. :)

Good luck appadv! The system looks real nice, have you got something in mind? What improvements are you trying to make?

Well, I need a scaler for the projector, so the first thing I am going to do is get a DVDO iScan unit for the projector. Then I will move everything from the living room into the basement, to combine both systems.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Your basement has gotta be a better room acoustically, so you'll probably benefit by combining rigs even if you keep most of your existing gear.

Tell us more about your basement -- dimensions, etc. Got pics?

You might add some acoustic ideas into that room.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm with you on starting over with a new living room setup after building one into the LR about 3.5 years ago. Time for a change. Time for 2 systems in there now. A dedicated HT system and a 2-channel system (or 2). I'm ready for the SDA's to be in the living room so they can open up more. But, I have to tear a 2X4 framed, sheetrock covered and painted, built in lit shelving, etc, etc unit out. It's going to be a messy biotch. :D

But, bought the new plasma, have the new inwalls, the new Sunfire sub, cables, etc. Most of the goodies are here and I told myself I'd start once I had it all here.

Not this weekend though as I'll be gone for the holiday...but, the first weekend of December, though.

Russ? You coming over? You're only about 35 minutes from me!
Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.

Basically I am combining the upstairs system (which you see in the picture) with the basement system that has the Def Techs, Projector, and 100" projection screen.

Here's an idea -- sell everything except the projector gear and sub, and start all over with a clean slate. Make a list of what you really want and go for it. Begin by building a kickass 2-channel system, then build the HT system around it.

    Why?

    I already have a great 2-channel system.

You're in this hobby and you're asking, "Why upgrade?"

Answer: A great system can always be made greater.

    Isn't that what you want?

Yes, but I'm satisfied with the quality of DVD-A on my system and I really like the Def Techs.

What I am trying to do is combine the upstairs and downstairs system, so I'll have a HTPC, 2-channel audio, HT surround, and video projection system all together.

I hope when I get married my wife likes the HT too :)

In all seriousness, I'm very happy with the setup and although I agree with you guys, I find that there is a point where you just have to sit down and enjoy the music!
