Saw it last night and wasn't that thrilled buy it, maybe because I'd seen, heard, or read the story at least half a dozen times, or maybe because it was at our towns most craptastic theater. Any body else see it?

BTW, I saw the 2-D version maybe the 3-D version would have been more fun to watch.

I saw it in good 3D. Good movie, not great. The 3D was quite excellent when it wasn't trying to be gimmicky.

Certainly the best dragon I have ever seen in a movie... and the drama of the story was a notch above the norm for this sort of affair. So I give it a thumbs up. No plans on buying it when it comes out though.

I wanted to see it in 3D (just because I love good special effects). Is the IMAX version in 3D as well?.

Should have been rated R for the skin and violence. Took my 13 year old to it and regretted it.

Just got back from seeing this and wasnt all that impressed.

It started out ok but never really got any better. Depressing ending too.

Good action and extremely well done FX.

Not a bad movie all in all but I wish Id saved the money and just watched it on HBO when it came out.

    6 out of 10

The whole cutting the arm off thing ruined it for me. Ive got a wicked fear and repulsion for any kind of limb hacking and this was stupid. The movie was going downhill for me anyway and this was the final death knell. Got tired of the queen hating everybody too. She didnt like her first husband and apparantly didnt care much for Beowulf either. Didnt understand what that was all about. And not only was the ending damn depressing but Im not quite sure what the whole thing was about. Maybe Im just not smart enough to understand it.

Saw this last night in Imax 3D. Way cool effects and with all the bass from the butt kickers on each seat it was a fun watch. I probably wouldn't want to see it again, but definately worth the first watch.

Dude, I don't know if you ever had to read the epic poem of Beowulf but that was pretty much the deal with the gore. They stayed quite true to the story. They cut out alot of the fluff and such but that was Beowulf, pretty much unadulterated except for the very end where they left it open for a sequel.

And engtaz, the poem is also quite racy with many sexual references in it too. I'm sorry you felt it was inappropriate but it really was part of the poem and I think they had it in there to remain true to the poem. It probably deserved a stiffer rating, I thought it was rated R.

As far as how I found it, I liked it! For two reason, one, it was accurate to the poem and two, like someone already said, the acting was pretty good. The poem drags and the story is long winded and repetitive but they didn't bring that to the movie. It was paced well enough to keep one interested but I did feel the time by the time it was done. One thing I did not really like was that some of the CGI (since the whole movie was computer animated like The Polar Express was) the CGI ended up being choppy and un-natural in spots. Overall, they did an awesome job with it. I liked it overall. I think certain things could have been done better but it was a good effort for a story that most people have probably never seen, read or heard of for that matter.

One warning for most, if you don't want to see a whole ton of naked guy or it makes you uncomfortable, this is not the movie for you!

For one, he didnt cut his own arm off in the poem. He didnt stay and become king, he returned home. The Angelina Jollee character didnt look like Angelina Jollee and he killed her when he first went after her. The King did have heirs and didnt commit suicide either.

Dont get me wrong, I have no problem with them taking liberties with the story line - Im just saying after the halfway mark, the story got a little boring.
