When the RR dudes came and setup our cable modem, they put it in Dad's room. Well, since I just got home with a new Wireless-G router and am going to have to set everything up again anyhow, I was thinking I'd just move everything to my room. That won't cause any problems, will it?

The cable's all the same once it gets into the house. Put the modem anywhere you want.

Ok, so I just setup the new WRT54G router, that was a breeze. The software that comes with it lists all the devices connected to the router. My computer pops up, and then an unnamed device. What the heck is the unnamed device? I disconnected the other wired computer and disabled the wireless on the wireless computers. What could that other device be?

But the wireless is encrypted...there's no way they've found our wireless network and hacked it in the 20 minutes it's been up and running when no one ever messed with our old network.

Is this in the modem's built-in setup page? In this unnamed device listed as a client machine?

This in the Linksys WRT54G's setup. I've determined it HAS to be Dad's wired desktop. That's the only thing possible. It was hooked up when I first set it all up, so I'm assuming that's why I didn't have to go back and add it. And it's connected. And when I disconnect everything except my desktop, it's still there.

    It's gotta be his.

Anyhoo, I got all the computers set up now. I can't believe how easy they've made it now! It's so easy, even a caveman could do it!!! :p

It doesn't matter where the hub is... I don't even see my it's 9ft high in a closet. I need a chair to shut off the UPS to reset everything once a while. I just changed out my DSL modem to a better one so I hope I don't need to reset to often, good so for knock on wood.
