Help me stop smoking?

Help, I don't know anything about vintage gear.
I had the cover off of a recently aqcuired vintage Sony receiver and was using deoxit...I waited a few minutes as it said before turning it on...when I turned it on, smoke rolled out and a little blue wire (appears to be for the face lights) is melting!
I shut it off and it stopped smoking...came back to it 5-10 minutes later and turned it on again...same smoking result.
What did I do? And, how do I fix it? PLEASE?

appears that the tan panel in pic (the wires attach to it) has something to do with it...I think I stopped the smoking for now by changing the angle and pressure of this loosely-attached piece.
anyone know what this is or how to prevent the smoking from continuing? -

You have a hot wire grounded somewhere. Check for bare wires or solder joints touching the chassis.Carl
