Balence according to the recording? I mean each cd is different (mastering), right? I use my knob on most cd changes. I must be insane huh? But i like the kick drum centered and sometimes vocals unless its like The Beatles (best band ever) or some prog rock craziness. Please give me some feedback. Thanks!

No, never had to on any type of recording. Maybe you could go into more detail about the issue you are having.

Reference this topic: don't you love the old Beatles recordings where they are singing in one speaker, guitars in the other. Talk about stereo abuse.

If I'm not sitting exactly in the center I will use the balance control to put me in the center of the music. I also like to make small adjustments to the balance to make corrections between the room and the recording. I have a remote that allows me to adjust the balance. If I didn't have the remote balance feature I probably won't adjust the balance however. To much getting up and down.

Balance is useful for testing stuff, but not for listening to "what the artist intended", I put that in quotes because what the artist REALLY intends may be much different than the record label tells the recording engineer to actually do.

I will say this though... it is because of the god damned Beatles that we have to deal with these !@#$!$#$@ recordings these days with no dynamic range. You can thank Phil Spector for that "gift" to the recording industry.

I say, do what your ears tell you is "right"... if it sounds good to you, gives you pleasure, makes you want to listen again and again... then it can't be that bad eh? No sense in being punished because of the ineptitude of recording engineers or big label executives.
