Hello, where did you get the PSW1000 without the amp? I want to make sure it is actually a PSW1000 and not a different model...

A guy is selling them on Ebay, I picked one up myself. I have yet to receive mine but I am pretty familiar with the PSW1000 having worked in the biz for quite a few years up here in Michigan. From the pictures and his discription it is a PSW1000. I'll be asking the same question wrenchddm..also if you have information on a Polk replacement amp...or maybe a referb?

    Thanks

OK these are not PSW1000 cabinets, instead they are LSiW cabinets which were recalled (thus the amp is missing). Please do not buy these units and if you have one throw it away or use it as furniture. Simply popping in a PSW1000 amp is not the solution as all the internal parts need to be changed. We cannot offer any support on these cabinets.

While it may look like a PSW1000 they are not.

What was the reason for the recall? How is this sub different to the PSW, they look identical from all the pictures I have found. Are the drivers recalled or just the Amp?

Throw an amp in there and see what happens. If it blows up, you're only out a few bucks. Driver + electronics + cabinet + power (amp) = bass

I don't see what it would hurt to throw an amp in there, as long as the driver and electronics are okay. Basically, you are building a subwoofer and just purchased the cabinet and driver. I think people do that all the time from Partsexpress, etc. You won't get any warranty / support, but should work decently well.

Now he tells us. Ugh. I bought one of these. Purchased a replacement amp from Polk for about $280.00. When comparing it to my 'authentic' Polk PSW1000, it sounds the same to me.

Well long story short...I received my sub a couple days ago with only one sub driver...I emailed the guy who I bought the sub from and he is sending me another sub...and he told me to keep the one driver sub. I have a PE 1000 watt sub coming..and yes I will "take my chance" and hook it up. Now what to do with the other woofer box? Find another 10'' sub and another amp...?

I would take the sub with the one driver in it and sell that solo driver here, or on ebay, or whereever. Surely someone will want a spare or replacement, especially if it's the same driver as in the "real" PSW1000. Then you can either build a sub out of the box with a new pair of drivers and an amp down the road if you choose.

If you have to go through polk to buy the second driver for the first sub, and an amp, you're going to be coming out of pocket for it big time. I'd part out the driver, get some decent drivers on sale from partsexpress that are the same size, get one of their amps from partexpress that will fit the box, and you've got a great looking DIY sub.

If anyone has a PSW1000 or if anyone knows...Are the Drivers 8ohm or 4ohm? I need to find out for when my amp comes in this coming week if I need to hook them up in series or parallel.

    Thanks
