just put in all the new stuff in my 2.3tl's, and they definitely sound a little thin. what can i expect for a length of a break-in time? at one point, i thought i heard a cackling distortion from the tweeters, but i changed the source and they seem fine now. they are too bright, and i just want to know what others have experienced. i did remove the poly's, and all parts are from sonicraft. all pieces are correct, and laid down right. what a full board!! any help-suggestions-experiences greatly appreciated. also, i do have the new rdo tweets from polk.

Sounds a bit different than what I experienced with my two SDA crossover changes. I immediately noticed more bass that kept improving for about 200 hours, and better detail, but I did not notice them to be any brighter.
What did you do with the by-pass cap for the tweeters? Did soniccraft recommend a 0.1uF platinum cap? When I used Sonicap i did this, and did notice something "extra" in the highs......would not call it brighter though._________________________________________________

They sound overly bright with the RD0's in them, too? Wow... I'm not sure what to say. When I did the crossovers in all 3 sets and listened to them with the SL's first, they about ran me out of the room. With the tweeter change, that made it unbelievably better.Richard? the poly switch was bypassed with a wire-no caps of any kind. they may not be brighter, just more detailed that i have listened to them more. the midrange punch is definitely more defined than before, but it may take more listening time. i still can't figure out the blown tweeter sound i had there for a while..... -
Do you have the RD0's? It will take awhile for things to break in. Be patient, it might take up to 200 hours. Did I say be patient?
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Let them burn in. My friend Joe was going nuts after his upgrade, and it took a while for his highs to burn in with his sonicaps. Now he is very happy. I took a while too. I am sure he will chime in.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

i have been listening more-if things get better than they are now, i will be extremely happy. i was listening to dire straits, on every street, and i heard mark knopfler taking breaths between lines. i did not hear that before the upgrade! what i thought was brightness, i think turned into clarity. WOW! i have not heard this stuff since my last pair of martin-logans.(i really do like the vintage polks better-what can i say?) does everyone just leave their stereo on for a week or two to achieve full burn in, or just do it in sessions? my 3.1tl's(rear channel)are next on the upgrade list. is everyone doing the rdo's in them also? thanx everyone. It's going to take between 200 to 400 hours for everything to settle in. As H9 said, "be patient."Political Correctness'.........defined
