Oppo 970 upconversion via component

I searched and searched for this, but could never find an exact answer. I have my oppo hooked up to my monitor right now, which supports up to 1080p, but I have the oppo hooked up thru component.

My understanding is that the 970 can upconvert over component with a hacked firmware. Does anyone know 1st hand if this works, and if so, where a link might be for this firmware?

Basically, I want my dvd's looking as good as possible on this monitor....

    yes, it works like a charm! I have it on mine for a couple years. No issue.
