A lot of old bogo titles in the lots, but if you missed any in the other many blu-ray bogos or are a new owner, it's a good way to build up your collection on the cheap. Especially from amazon as they sell at a discount to retail, don't charge tax, have shipping breaks...etc.

There also seem to be some blu-ray titles that are just listed cheaply at $15.99 and $12.99 at J and R. A lot of repeats of the above titles. But also some obscure but possibly interesting titles like black book. Or the original Underworld not included in the above bogo.

Edit: Looks like they raised the $12.99 disks back up today. I hope some people got in on those deals. They were a steal compared to retail if they had the titles you were looking for.

No problem. Always happy to help polkies avoid retail. Especially on pricey HD disks.

dang. i just returned 20 hd dvd and blu-rays yesterday as i got them on the circuit city's buy one get one glitch. i bought them for the price, though they are movies i'd only watch once. do some of you purchase just to up your library? i can't afford to do that no matter how great the price. ended up keeping like 6 movies. wish they had that ratatoullie (sp?) for blu-ray and face off for hd dvd back when the sale was going on.

With kids, you can never have enough Disney disks. Young ones like I have seem to have no problem watching the same movie over and over, even memorizing the lines. And with kids, my wife and I skip a lot of the movies in the theaters and catch up when they release them on disk.

And I go through phases where I sometimes don't revisit a movie for a long time. Then for no reason I feel like popping a few titles in to be pounded in the chest by my subwoofer for a weekend afternoon.

At the $10-$15 dollar prices I've been getting some of these at, they seem to be pretty cheap compared to theater prices and it's nice to be able to go up to the collection and be able to pull down a variety of titles without any hassle. Still, for me, they have to have demo worthy scenes either for video or audio. Stuff like slow moving chick flicks don't make the cut even if they're cheap. Too many other ways to get them and still make the wife happy other than HD.

I used to do that, but I stopped late last year and I have saved a ton of money. I just NetFlix the movies (HDDVD & Blu-Ray as well at no additional cost) I know I will only watch once or twice.

I'm usually pretty good at knowing which movies will get play and which won't. I don't get more than a few at a time through these bogo deals as I'll pick up a new release or two and pair those with one or two I wasn't sure about before. But they add-up quick with how often these sales come around. When I look at the rack, there really isn't much fluff in it. Just a lot of favorites. The kind you're happy that pop up on cable on a slow weekend day eventhough you've seen it before.

Of course the wife would probably think no cost is better. Some people spend on starbucks, I like movies on my home theater. I can understand completely if a person would rather spend their money in another way.
