Toshiba HD-A2 Sound Level

I noticed the volume level on my A2 is noticably lower than any other component I have. Movies on other players are/were typically played at -38 to -43. I usually play the A2 at -32. Is anyone else noticing this?

My A2 is hooked up via optical. I've tried both the Bitstream and PCM settings.

I just hooked mine up through optical yesterday and I'm running at about the same sound level on CD's. My daughter and I are having movie night tonight(Spidey 3 and Transformers) so I'll see then as far as movies.

i believe the lower volumes are inherent with hd dvd. try playing a standard dvd and see if it's any 'louder'. all i do is just turn up the volume a bit whilst playing hd dvd's.

Ditto. No biggie but I did notice that I had to take the level up a decent chunk. On my Integra receiver, it was usually at a reading of 40...now it seems like I have to get it to around 50 or so.

Some with my A30. I had to watch movies such as Transformers with 5 registered on my Onkyo Vs 15 registered for every BR I play.

Much lower noise levels in HD sound... Also, notice that there is no bass, so you will have to lower all channels in the setup, and leave sub at zer0.
