5.8 Ghz phone systems - question

We're looking to replace our old 2.4g phone system in our home.
I've never used a 5.8g system. But I read something on a box (Vtech, I think) that said you can only use one of the handsets at a time. I haven't seen this statement in ANY of my other research - I can't find anything on it at all, that you can use more than one handset, or you can't.
Is this true in general, or just something about this particular system?
Can two (or more?) people be on separate handsets (on the same call) at the same time on a 5.8ghz phone system?
While we're at it.. if you're interested enough to have read this far... any praises or horror stories for any particular brands?
Thanks.

Hell, now they have 6.0s."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I can't imagine the transmission frequency having any effect on being able to use more than one handset. May just be a limitation of a certain specific product. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Well.. I tracked down on online manual for a Philips DEC6.0 system.
You CAN use a second handset on the same external call, but you have to 'call' the handset internally. You can't just pick another handset up and turn it on.
That is for DEC6.0... I'll have to track down a manual on a 5.8 set.
Thank you for the time you took to respond. -
I think Panasonic has a similar setup, but with four hand sets. If you wanna use 2 cordlesses at the same time, just buy 2 separate units.
