If I had unlimited money - this would be my HOME THEATER

Can not be 2 channel

ribbonma_lg.gif

Center - Tyler Acoustics Woodmere
Surround Sides - Tyler Acoustics Woodmere II
Surround Backs - Tyler Acoustics Woodmere II

woodmere_11_wnlg.jpg

Subwoofer For Mains - VMPS Very Large Arrays (2)

VLA_Rosewood.jpg

Subwoofer For Center - VMPS Larger

sublarg.jpg

Subwoofer For Side Surrounds - VMPS Larger (2)
Subwoofer For Back Surrounds - VMPS Larger (2)
Subwoofer For LFE Channel - SVS PB 13 Ultra (2)

pb13ultra_textblack_grilloff_basic.jpg

For those counting...

That would be 13 Active 12" Woofers
5 Active 15" Woofers
2 Active 13.5" Woofers
7 15" Passive Radiators
2 12" Passive Radiators
Total of 20 Active Bass Drivers - Of Course in 2 Channel Mode, only the Very Large Arrays would be active

Crossovers -
For Mains - Very Large Arrays - Paradigm X 30
For Center - Larger - Paradigm X30
For Side Surrounds - Larger (2) - Paradigm X30
For Back Surrounds - Larger (2) - Paradigm X30

Amps -

Mains - Odyssey Mono Extreme SE Pair
Center - Odyssey Mono Extreme
Side Surrounds - Odyssey Mono Extreme Pair
Back Surrounds - Odyssey Mono Extreme Pair
Very Large Array - Crown XTi4000 Bridged (Pair)
Center Larger Sub - Odyssey Mono Extreme
Side Surround Larger Subs - Odyssey Mono Extreme Pair
Back Surround Larger Subs - Odyssey Mono Extreme Pair

product_125760.jpg

So looking at roughly --
14 Amps

2 Channel Processor -

Odyssey Candela

Home Theater Processor -

B&K Reference 20 S2

Big Drop Down Screen ---- Projector

Some DVD player thats decent

And of course a cool CDP
- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Shocking setup you have there, Trey. Never would've guessed you'd go with Tyler / VPMS speakers and Klaus Xtremes.

    I would've guessed RTi70s X 7 and maybe some Crown Amps.:D

Okay, I wanna play for real now. I might go Lsis all around (out of respect), or. . .

    Thiel 3.7 fronts
    Thiel MCS1 Center (maybe Dual)
    Thiel MCS1 for surrounds
And either some big SVS's, or keep the Thiel theme and get two SS4 subs.

Don't know what electronics I'd need. Let's say Krell Amps, Classe pre-pro, and both HD-XA2 and PE BR.

Big screen, treated / custom room, raised theater seating, recline all the way back, stocked fridge.
Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850

If it existed, I would get Polk LSI 12's (the 9's in a tower box that weighs around 40lbs) LSIC & LSIFX's. And I would get a flat panel tv. I would keep everything else the same.

Unfortunately I see that happening with the Polks. So my next set of speakers will be Dynaudio Focus series.

    EQ'S

    SDEC4000.jpg

NOW FOR THE 8 18" SUBS

    S1S-EX.jpg

But then again if money was no object I might just fly the guys from SVS to the house and their equipment for a month and have them build me some subs that would Blow the house DOWN instead of using the JBL subs. But I would have no less then 8 subs in that HT.
Here is the link to the System
    http://www.jblsynthesis.com/products/system_overview.aspx?prod=SYN-EVEREST&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA

I'm thinking the Everest system is anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000 With just 8 amp not 15. So there would be some added cost. But just a slight raise.

I also like tha Mac. system that Face listed also. But you just can't go wrong with JBL.

I heard those and they do sound really really nice they were being pushed with all Mac of course and 500w mono blocks real nice and real tall.

But my system would be all Mac with Triad Platniums in a teated room for me there is no substitute.

    I'd have to say a B&W 5 nautilus speakers

    02-Nautilus-Image_l2_w817_h328.jpg

but would be a hard power problem you need 20 channels just to power them properly

Power amplifier requirements 4 channels per speaker, rated
    100W - 300W continuous into
    8Ω on unclipped programme
(each channel to have identical gain and phase)
    2 CHANNEL
    Speaker - Klipsch Heresy II

Is there a reason for the Shell design for the enclosure? I've always liked them but I wonder if the enclosure looks the same inside as they do on the outside?

The enclosure is actually made of either fiberglass or concrete - I can't remember...

Its the shape it is for a reason, just from memory, I believe the enclosure is sealed -- but its a spiral and the "tube" gets smallers as the "tube" progresses --- thus killing the back wave to nothing, the enclosure should be inert

The tubes behind the mids and tweets are the same idea..

Darla, you know as well as I do that there is no such thing as overkill in Audio. You certainly didn't think so when you had all your top notch equipment when you were into HT.

This is what annoys me with you extremists. You make up all these artificial rules about audio & that 2 channel is sooooo superior & thats where you should put the money.

****!!! You should buy the very best equipment that you can afford for either preference. That way you will have less to buy when you switch back & forth between the 2.
