Tubes for SDAs?

What are people's experience with using tubes to power SDAs. I know that they like lots of power, and obviously 1.2TL are different to power than my 1A. I really want to use a tube preamp with my Audiometric AM441 because I think it would help the sound. It might be sonicly delicious to go all tube, but that is why I am asking! What do you think, solid state amp with tube pre, or all tube?

I roll with a tube pre and SS amp. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

I run my 3.1TL's with a 60 WPC tubed amp for a while. Perfect match IMO.

The 1.2's are awesome with 400 watts of Manley power. They work well with 50 wpc Jolida as well. The bigger the SDA the more efficient they are and the less tube power you need. 60 watts per channel with the 1.2's seem just about right.

Thoughts on 2B's and tube power would be appreciated. I have to do something. My RS amp and RTA 11t's have more bass than my 2B's and HK home theater amp.

I don't think you're going to fix the bass problem with tubes; have you checked that there are no air leaks (drivers gaskets, binding posts cup, etc)?

The Anthem Amp One ND13 has for sale would be killer on the 2b's. I ran one with my SRS 2's before I retired them, match made in audio heaven.

Explain furthur, do you mean the bass is bloated or over done. My 11T's needed an amp with a firm grip to get true, soild, non-bloated bass. Perhaps the RS amp just doesn't have the damping capabilities since it's such a small device.

EDIT: Or do you mean the 2B's are lacking in bass?

My 2B's seem like they are laking in bass in comparison or I feel like I have to turn them up to load to get decent bass. I should order some new driver gaskets. Something is not right. I just need to figure it out.

    Thanks,

How do you think your's compared to mine? I don't necessarily remember a big difference in bass quality or quantity between the two.

Sorry for the de-rail, Zingo. Vey good question, as I've been wondering the same thing.

Ben I am now thinking I have a problem with air leak(s). My driver gaskets were very thin.

I just tried pushing in on my PR's and the mid drivers went out and then retracted a bit as air leaked but still went in more as I released the rest of the pressure off the PR. This happened on both pairs of speakers.

    Sorry about the threadjack.

I am sure there is still a lot of interest in Tubes and SDA's.

I've been running various tube pres and tube amps with my SRS 2s for years now. Haven't had a complaint yet.

ND13 I tried looking up your Anthem Amp One but was unable to come up with anything other than one review and no picture. Do you have a link?
