Having some fun with equipment tonight!

So I picked up an XBOX 360 tonight to keep my PS3 company! I have really wanted to play some of the recent XBOX releases, and haven't been too excited by recent PS3 releases. I love the capabilities of the PS3 (BluRay, etc), but gimme some Forza2 and Halo3! :D The new deal with Forza2 and Marvel Ultimate Allianced packaged in, with HDMI output was too good to pass up. Can't wait to get it all hooked up!

Also, I picked up an A2 during walmart's deal last week, and I am A/B'ing it with my XA2, using the two copies of the same disk. I have a 720p projector, Optoma HD70, and I can't really see a difference in HD-DVD. I don't have two of the same SD disks, so comparing upscaling is harder.

My big sell on the XA2 has been the REON upscaler, and the analogue outs. I am going with an HDMI 1.3a pre now, so the analogues won't be as big a deal. The REON will be interesting to compare.

I have my XA2 listed in the FM though, I need to pay for the XBOX 360!

    HDMI 1.3a...I think that answered my other question in the Emotiva thread. You want a pre/pro to do the processing of the new formats via HDMI instead of the XA2 in analog?

    You got it! Here is what I said in the other thread though...

    "My XA2 provides TrueHD, but I don't get the high res formats from my PS3. So I get what HD-DVD has to offer, but not all that BluRay offers in terms of LPCM and TrueHD.

    Crap, I have spent the evening A/B'ing the A2 over optical versus the XA2, both optical and analogue. No doubt about TrueHD over analogue is MO' BETTA, but crap, the Emotiva LMC-1 sounds downright AWESOME with either one!

    I would sell the A2, the XA2 is the top dog in Toshibas lineup. Unless you feel that you dont need it for what its capable of.

    Unless you go for the 1080P version and have a 1080P display, then yes sell.
