Just an FYI to those of you doing the 5 free HD DVD offer

I just called to inquire about the status of mine that I sent in the first week of August. It is now 12 weeks later, with no word on the status. The sheet says 8-10 weeks.
I called and they told me they have been averaging 12-14 weeks processing time due to the number of people that have sent the offer in as well as an additional 3-4 weeks packaging/shipping time for the customers to receive the DVD's.
If you are planning on giving the 5 free movies away as holiday gifts....think again, this is going to take 16-18 weeks at the moment and probably even longer for those of you getting in on that walmart insane deal.
Just a heads up.....:(

Wow. This is B.S. They knew that they would have lots of people submitting the rebate. If it was 12-14 weeks, now with the lowest prices on the players it's going to take 6 months!!!_________________________________________________

Unfortunately that's probably true, once they receive the rush from all the people who jumped on the Wally World deal I could easily see 18 turning to 26 weeks.
Kinda sucks but what do you expect for free from Microsoft/Toshiba. -
I've received 2 sets of the 5 rebate HD-DVDs to date. Both time it took a good 3-4 months to receive them. Long time, but it's still an AWESOME promo.
They are pretty good about looking up the status if you call them. Both times I called after about 3 months and they arrived a couple weeks later.
Only other thing I can note is that 2 or 3 from each 5-some I received had a big scratch (1-2" long) on the back of the case over the UPC code. Anyone else noticed that? It's purely cosmetic and didn't bother me at all, but just curious if that is something others have noticed and why they do that.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -

Curious, do the discs arrived opened or still sealed? Maybe they do that to prevent people from taking them to the store and getting store credit and exchanging for a different dvd. -
Yeah, but it was only 5 or 6 of 10, the others were new with no scratches.
They come in the regular cases with all the art, wrapped/sealed. I watched most of them, but recently decided to sell most of my rebate discs to buy hd-dvds I wanted more (like Harry Potter Series, Oceans Series, etc.) without coming too much out of pocket.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

They should all have that on them. Record labels do that all the time for promotional CDs. It is done so a person can't sell them in a store. A lot of times a record company will just run a drill bit right through the CD case and UPC code.
Oddly enough a couple LPs that I have with that on them makes them far more valuble than the ones from the store. -
Thanks, good to know.
The ones with the scratch didn't look to be done randomly. They were scratched hard through the UPC code with the head of a screwdriver or drill or something.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

Yeah, I have seen a few CD cases run through a saw blade. Kind of amusing thinking about the guy who has that job.

i believe only the ones that come from Universal do that.

If anyone is looking for replacement cases check out www.sleevecity.com. I mainly bought them so that all my movies have the same case since studios all use different cases.

All of the CDs that I bought from "The Wall" (now "FYI") had a square chunk taken out of them at the UPC. I always thought it was odd.Ludicrous gibs!

Great news, mine arrived today, all sealed in retail packaging without the UPC's removed or scratched. Looks like I will be returning the crap to best buy or circuit and getting movies I will watch.
-
wait, you can do that? I should've done that long ago. I just resold the stuff I didn't watch and got some from Amazon that were more to my liking.
I might be getting another HD-DVD player and, therefore, another 5 free HD-DVDs. Would love to know I can just walk into BB and exchange them for others. Let us know how it goes.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

just bring them to the store and say you lost your receipt but you already had this movie and want to exchange it for something else....it absolutely needs to be 100% sealed and undamaged. YMMV......
