I'm going to pick up 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Delicate Sound of Thunder'. Was wondering which are the best releases of these. Original pressings, remasters, etc?

The delicate sound of thunder is a rare album and is probally best on dvd or lp. the wish you were here album is probablly the best of the 2 if you can find one that is a haf speed master it will be as good as you can get but will be pricey. here is a link to one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/PINK-FLOYD-WISH-YOU-WERE-HERE-JAPAN-SHRINK-POSTER_W0QQitemZ330179637433QQihZ014QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Wish You Were Here - Sony Mastersound Gold CD. Stellar, if you can find it. Better than vinyl, IMO.

Pulse - Japanese import CD. Stellar!

    DSOTM - SACD.

In The Flesh (Roger Waters) - SACD.

The Wall Live In Berlin (Roger Waters) - SACD.

Delicate Sound Of Thunder - Japanese import CD.

I gotta hear this because if you are right then I'm gonna have to live with the vinyl (which by the way is incredible) , that thing is going for $125 and I won't pay that kinda dough for a CD.

I've read that the original CBS/Sony Japanese CD pressing (catalog number 35DP 4) of "Wish You Were Here" from 1982 is the ultimate version. Ultra-rare as well. I believe it goes for $400.00+ on ebay.

Hmmm....maybe I should rephrase the question then. Which CD pressings under $50 are the best

I wish I did. Last I heard they were working on them, but that was years ago.

The MoFi version of DSOTM isn't bad, but the SACD version is much better (which may be a real obvious statement). Probably a good bit cheaper to boot.

While on the subject of Pink Floyd, I came across a DVD at BB tonight, "Pink Floyd: London" that I'd never heard before.

    Pink Floyd London.jpg

    Info from the Web:

    DVD Features

    Digipak
    Full Frame -
    1.33
    Audio:
    Dolby Digital
    1.0 - English
    Additional Release Material:
    Additional Footage
Audio Commentary - Peter Whitehead, Director
    Featurettes -
    1. "Interstellar Overdrive"
    2. "Nick's Boogie"
Interviews with Mick Jagger, Michael Caine, David Hockney, Julie Christie
    Additional Product:
    CD

Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1

One commercial review said, ""Worth it to see a pre-crackup Syd Barret getting bizarre on slide guitar." -- Peter Relic, Rolling Stone

That drew my interest (I think Syd was actually from another planet).

A user review really got my attention:

"Fantastic souvenir for early Floyd/Syd fans. It's great to see and hear Syd playing with such passion and inventive. 'Interstellar Overdrive' surpass by a mile the studio version and shows how a talented guitarrist Syd was. Great sound on both DVD & CD. Don´t miss it!.

If that's true about 'Interstellar Overdrive', or even half true, ........
    WOW

Has anyone else seen this DVD ?

Listened to "A Saucerful of Secrets" on the way home, so I'm easily side-tracked tonight.

I have the box set "Shine On." I think Pink Floyd's greatest album is "Wish You Were Here."

This is an extraordinary sounding set of redbook CDs. My wife and I have been enjoying this box set since around 9:00 PM and we have no listening fatigue that to me is some fine digital.
