RM6880 with RTI8

I have a RM6880 system and I'm thinking of buying RTI8 for a 7.1 HT system. I have Onkyo 605 A/V receiver. Is this a good combination? Will the RM6880 center channel too small and get lost in the sound field with the RTI8? I appreciate for any opinions or input.
Thanks
Thanks

Welcome to the forum SoundGood2Me.
I hope someone can help you with your question as this problem seems to be keeping you up all night as you posted at 3:59 am :D My setup is different so I cant comment on your specific scenerio but when I use my speakers for a movie I can tell a difference in the quality of the sound ... for instance my front right and left speakers are LSi 25s and my center speaker currently is an RM7302 ... the sound coming from the center does sound flatter and does not seem as realistic (my audio vocab is limited so thats the best I can describe it as). You may find something similar when using a higher quality speaker like the RTi8 in combination with the RM center. Also if you play the RTi 8 too loud, which it will be able to handle your smaller center may struggle to keep up. So listen to see if there is any distortion coming from the center speaker if you are over doing the volume ....
Some more seasoned/experienced forum members may be able offer some more insight though ...
Good luck and enjoy ... remember you can always upgrade your center speaker when funds allow or you find a great sale.

I had exactly the same combination - the Onkyo 605 and RM 6880.
When I got the RTi8's and switched out the RM6880 fronts, the 6880 center channel did not sound so great with the RTi8's. There was such a marked difference that I ended up getting a CSi3 center and switching out the RM 6880 center channel within a few days. It just didn't sound as full and natural as the RTi8's, and it really bothered me till I replaced the center. -
thanks for the inputs. Hey Frodo2k, how's the 605 and RTI8 combination treating you? Is the 605 good enough to power the RTI8 or do I need to buy a seperate amp to fully enjoy these puppies?

Buy the separate amp,you will not be disappointed. If you're looking at centers go with the Csi5 and don't look back. You'll thank me later.

Hi sounds good to me. I have the same setup. TX-SR605(B) w/ RM-6880. It's really sounds nice in my small 13x17 room. Wondering if you can tell me how you have your cross-overs set. Specifically the setting for your 2 5.1 rear's and center. I have my fornts set to Full Band. I am new at this just. Your time for a reply is very much apprechiated.
