Are any of you using the SDA's for surrounds. I have SDA 2's for fronts. Can someone point me to a link that details the differences between 2b and 2's? There's a pair up for sale in my area for 200. Worth it? Thanks.

SDAs can work very well in surround. I use SDA SRSs in the front and 2.3s in the rear and it sounds great to me.
    Good luck, Phil

The first obvious difference between the two is that the 1st and 2nd generation SDA 2 used the older two tweeter (2xSL2000) system and the updated/improved 2B (4th gen) used the single tweeter (SL2000). The SDA 2 also utilized three mid woofers (2xMW6501 & MW6511) and a model SW120 PR as opposed to the 2B using two mids (MW6503 & MW6511) and a model SW121 PR.

The early SDA gens used a stereo and a dimensional tweeter that was later determined by Polk to be unnecessary and was discontinued. You'll also find the SDA 2 using a blade/blade type IC and most of the 2Bs using a pin/blade type as the crossovers were also different.

Oh yeah, almost forgot one of your questions... I'm using a pair of 2Bs for surrounds on my HT. They're being driven with a Yamaha M85 (I bought new way back in the '80s) and they work just fine.

Thanks Bob, and you would use the 2B's rather than something like Fxi3/5? I have a new Yamaha 2700. My fronts are 2's, presence are old polk RM (?) monitors and I'm getting a new CSi5 for the center. Currently my surrounds are a pair of small Atlantic speakers. The surrounds are configured as L/R surrounds in the Yamaha although they really are rear surrounds by positioning. The large 2B's could be accomodoated on my fireplace hearth (not used) and wouldn't look too bad although I'm not sure the wife would like it, hence my question about Fxi's instead.
