My wife went to MediaPlay to pick up the 3 disk version that we reserved. Surprise!! They did not have ANY! We called 3-4 different stores only to find out that none of the stores in our area had received them yet! Frustrating to say the least!

The people from MediaPlay were at a loss as to why they had not received the 3 disk set, nor did they seem to concerned, they've already got my money.

Man, ST: TMP, that did not suck. One of the best next to TWoK. III was OK and yes, V was a crap fest, but a ST fan must own them all to complete the collection. At least the worst ST is better than E.T.

Lucas's strategy didn't work very well, people are loosing interest on his blockbuster movies like: ET and the original Starwars since he is trying to hold the release on DVD for so long, who would want to sit for another 2 or 3 hours to watch them while those "dang" movies have been overruns on mayny networks so many times. I don't know, would your guys buy those DVDs for your collection?

Watching a movie on network tv isn't watching a movie. It's watching an ad campaign.

When ol' George releases the origional 3 Star Wars movies on DVD, he's going to get rich.....er, richer.

George has at least six more DVD sales to me....the first three Star Wars and the three Indiana Jones movies.

The ones you see on Ebay are probably VCD which were released in The Far East. Not here in the states though...

We bought ET. Got it at WalMart for $14.40. It includes the original theatrical release plus the revamped rerelease. We've watched only the orginal so far. Didn't give it any sort of official check or workout, but it played fine, sounded fine, looked good.

i've been teetering back and forth whether to buy ET or not. anyone who has bought and watched it.. what's your take on it. i hear it has the edited footage back in the movie. but how does it look? How about sound? Is it DD 5.1 or just 2.0?

As of the 10th of this month, E.T. is too be pulled from the shelf. I spent the better part of a week trying to locate a WS copy. Finally, CC came through with a few left in stock. The girl said they are too pull the others tomorrow. BB had none and said they are pulling their's tomorrow as well, their FS copies.

Just a head's up for all you who are not sure about the purchase.

    We have it.

Video transfer is fine with good color rendering and black levels and amazingly few artifacts considering the age of the original film.

Sound is DD 5.1 but nothing to write home about - very ho hum surround effects and bass but vocals are clear on the center channel and this movie is mostly dialogue anyway.

The extra footage is fine - seamless and better than the original - they re-did some scenes with CGI and it works well.
