I've been working with a non profit called "Snowball Express." This organization takes kids who have lost a parent in the war and flies them and their families to SoCal for a weekend of activities including a trip to Disneyland. This year 1500 people are coming out starting Nov. 29. We are planning a silent auction to be hosted by charitybuzz.com, and I was thinking maybe we (club polk) could donate a HT system to be auctioned off. We tend to keep alot of extra gear around and I know this is a real good cause.

Tell me what you think, and check out the website @ www.snowballexpress.org. If you would like to donate gear or monetary gifts, I will set it up. Also, Snowball is 501c3 so all gifts are tax deductible. Thanx. Lastly, if someone from Polk Audio (corporate) sees this, we sure could use extra corporate sponsorship.

I don't have anything to donate but I do have some Polk bucks accumulated. Would Polk consider letting a group of us to pool Polk bucks to redeem for an I-Sonic or something? Polk can keep the tax receipt, it's of no use to me in Canada. ;)

    Phone, thanx for your response.

Wow! With all the useless stuff that gets debated ad nauseam around here, you mean to tell me that something to help the kids of OUR fallen warriors only garners 1 response, and that from a Canadian member.

    The silence speaks volumes.

Eh, I don't think it means all that much unless you're just trying to guilt some people into it, which by all means -- go for it! :p

I know a lot of us have our own traditions and ways of supporting the troops and their families. Most of that stuff is done locally or personally, at least for me. :)

I'd encourage anyone who isn't doing anything to do something. It's always appreciated to get a little something from home from what I have heard from soldiers.

I was trying to figure out what I could wrangle up but that reply just got you a big ole' bag of nothing. Good luck. You're not the most tactful member of that organization I imagine.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

And if the success of every organization depended on the diplomatic skills of its least 'tactful' member, I bet there wouldn't be too many.

If it's a good cause, who cares how brusque the front man is?

I wasn't trying speak without tact, I was just surprised that with over 100 views, there was only one response. If you read my origianl post, I didn't just ask for donations or action, I was looking for thoughts and ideas. If I offended anyone please accept my apology. It is a really good cause and I hope my statements wouldn't cause someone not to get involved.

But on the other hand, at least I got your attention.;)

My suggestion is try to keep this near the top of the page for a while and you will get some help. also if not everyone gives or responds it doesnt mean we dont care, I think most of us here give on a regular basis to requests here and locally also but we cant give to every worthwhile cause because there simply is too many.

I would suggest try going to your local audio shops for home theatre products simply because if we all sent 1 item to you, you would wind up with the most mismatched home theatre in the world lol.

If you try your local shops for gifts /donations tell them you will give them a write up in the local paper mentioning there buisness and there help, its good press for them and people love donators.

Also call your local radio stations and see if you cant get a few free plugs for your cause.

I am going to send you a pm regarding where to send a monetary gift though because I think it is a worthwhile cause.

Thanks Snow, checking local shops is a good idea. And thanks for making a donation. As stated above, that should go directly thru the website. I will see about having any donations from club polk credited as such. This is my first time being involved with any type of fundraising, so I'm learning as I go. And sometimes, I can be as subtle as bull in china store, so don't hold it against me.:o
