Has anyone got the new Eagles cd? If so, how is the sound quality? It was engineered by Bob Ludwig who normally does good work. I think Elliot Scheiner also worked on it and he always produces great sounding music.

I'm listening to it right now. It will take me a couple of listens to give you a full opinion, but my initial impression is this is another high quality Eagles recording.

Excellent separation, great dynamics...... more opinions forming as I type......

I haven't made it all the way through yet. The first CD is pretty heavy in the southern rock genre, which isn't my cup of tea, but the Eagles stuff always grows on me.

The second CD is great so far. A little more hard driving, with more solos and less 5 part harmony.

Actually, yesterday (Tuesday) was the release date for this. I picked mine up before work and listened throughout the day yesterday.

    Decent, but not memorable.

The new Eagles Long Road Out of Eden CD release is a winner. Sound quality is great, and like many releases, the tunes sound better the second and subsequent times around. It's unlikely to ever supplant my favorite Eagles album, On The Border, but Out Of Eden is certainly worth having. Enjoy.:)

I agree. AFter a few listens of disc 2 it's becoming a favorite. I'm listening to Out of Eden right now on the new LSi15 setup I just got put together.

I also got this CD. The quality is top notch! I wasn't really impressed music wise with the fist CD, but once I put in Disc 2... wow. What an impressive release. The title track is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Just haunting.

If you enjoy the Eagles, you must have this new album. Skip cd 1 and go straight for the good stuff. CD 2 ROCKS!

I like it so far. Some average songs, a few above average. However, waiting in the wings is old school Eagles at their best. Great song!

I received this for my Birthday and on first listen...I was just ok with it. Sound quality was excellent, but as some have said, it seemed...bland. Last night I sat down and really listened. I came away with a much better appreciation for this album. These musicians may be better now than they were 20 years ago. Their playing and singing are excellent. The harmonizing on a couple of tracks will rival some of the great stuff Brian Wilson put together many years ago. Timothy B. Schmit's voice is still one of the purest you will find. What at first came across as bland, upon more listening can be better described as "mellow". Given their ages and where they are in their career, this is a much better option than what Van Halen and other aging rockers do when they attempt to "be who they used to be" and end up as comic caricatures of their former selves. This album is a mellower, more refined version of who the Eagles used to be. Taken in that context rather that looking for something "new and fresh"...this album is a great success IMO.

Frey and Henley dominate the vocals (but then again they always have). I miss Don Felder as I think he always added some interesting and excellent guitar playing. One complaint is: ONLY TWO SONGS FROM JOE WALSH!?!? Maybe his voice is the one that is not what it used to be, but the 2 tracks he was on lead were very good and I would have liked to hear more. If you liked the Eagles and can appreciate a well recorded album that is an extension of their career, Long Road Our of Eden is well worth the price.

And how can you beat it for $11.88! It gets a lot of rotation on any system I have. I agree with Shack in that they aren't out trying to be what they used to be. That was a long time ago and they have changed and I feel the recording reflects that. I have always been a fan of Timothy B. Schmidt and even have a solo LP of his from back in 1987 called "Timothy B". Also, Joe Walsh is hard to beat. I listen to his stuff back in the "James Gang", too.

My brother brought this up for me at Thanksgiving.

Outstanding album. It is exactly what Shack said. They have gone back to their country/rock roots & continue to write and sing songs that are meaningful & timeless.

If you watched the interviews with them on the Farewell Tour Don Henley said that they basically sing & act their age. They aren't 20something anymore & don't have the energy to go bouncing all over the stage. (they loiter real well!) They rather use that energy to put on 3 hr concerts!

Just like Shack I wasn't too impressed the first time I heard it. But on the 2nd go round I really started to get it & it has continued to improve with subsequent listenings.

Excellent vocals, harmonies, & instruments. Timeless lyrics, by a band that has simply improved with age!

I never cared for the Eagles so will hold off until I can at least hear a couple of tracks on i-tunes. Of course I say that as "Kiss on my List" is playing in the other room. I didn't even know I had that song...

I hear the lyrics are pretty far left on the Eagles. Is that true?
