My ADCOM GFA-555 is moving to 2-channel duty in my living room and now my HT will be totally powered by my H/K AVR-635 unless I add another amp.

I love the ADCOM sound. Any 5 channel amps you all might recommend I try out that woudl be under...say... $800? If I don't come up with anything, I'm getting another GFA-555 or a 545

Maybe a Rotel RMB-1075. You can pick one of these used for around $700. Good performers with very few issues. I've been using one in my system for awhile and haven't had one problem.

This is a dirt cheap option that should work out really well with your H/K. If I had the funds, I would get it for a second HT rig...

    Michael

Edit - not to mention it would make a great test for the difference between an amp and an AVR. (since the power is about the same between them) If you don't like it, I would think you could resell it for what you paid, if not a profit.

Edit #2 if you want to stick with Cathys 200wpc mantra - here is a nice 3 channel rotel well within your budget. (with local pickup for you - BONUS.....)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I have one of these (LPA1) and am extremely pleased with it and it's partner, LMC1.

    http://www.emotiva.com/lpa1.html

Replaced an AVR340 and GFA 6000 with the LPA1 and their LMC1.

They are also releasing a 5 x 200w/ch RMS, somtime early next year.

    Will sell for $699.

I agree. I was thinking about branching out a bit and trying something different. Have been curious about Rotel. That GFA-7500 is tempting though.

Ok.. Aside from what's available here or on audiogon is there anything I owe it to myself to try, or is my price range limiting me quite a bit?

Rotel, Sunfire, Parasound, Outlaw, are all good options as well. And yes your price range is limiting you for a 5 channel amp.

Umm... mine is only $600. You can find Parasound for $800 if you shop hard enough. Going from 150 Watts to 200 is nothing in output. You would gain 1 dbl, and there is a huge difference in price. I have an A/D/S car amp that is 30 watts a channel, and it kicks the crap out of a lot of these 100 watts channel amps out their. Read the specs on any amp you are looking at. I particularly look at dampening factor, headroom, and THD in th .007 range. Do research before you buy.

    Happy hunting
