Question about Fxi3 vs Rti6 as rear surrounds
I currently have Rti8 as fronts, Csi5 as center, and waiting delivery of BIC H-100 for sub. Last step is chosing rear surrounds. Since my main listening area is a sofa that's against the back wall, from the education article on the website, it looks like I'd set the fxi3's to dipole. This would be ok for the primary listening position, which is pretty much the same as the picture in article. But, there are also other seats in my living room that would be in front of the rear speakers if you look at the picture and it looks like this is not in a good position to get surround effect from the fxi3. Does that mean I should get Rti6 instead? I'm primarily using my home theater for movies.

So you don't think the surround effect will signficantly diminshed if you're not sitting the ideal area for the fxi3?

I don`t think so...
not many people, including myself, have the ideal seating position for thier HT setup..
THe 6`s are large, and more "directional"
I run the rears alittle "hot" anywayCary SLP-98L F1 DC Pre Amp (Jag Blue)

Thanks. Another question: I noticed the new fxi A4 is available for the same price is the fxi3. Is there any reason not to get the fxi A4? Also, will my onkyo 605 at 90watts/channel be able to handle a system with a pair of rti8's, a csi5, pair of fxi3 or fxi A4 and BIC H-100? I'm not using the system to blast music, just for movies, games, tv.

You should be ok, later on you can add a power amp for the fronts, make sure you buy a receiver with preout connections on the back. As for fix3 you should be able to find a killer deal on a pair since they will be phased out soon, try Onecall, J&Rs, some other places like that.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Thanks for the input. The fxi A4 is currently 250 at amazon, about the same price for the cheapest fxi3 I can find on the net. I'm sure it will go back to 400 soon. I'm not sure how long it'll take for the fxi3 to drop more.

If its a surround speaker effect you need then the FX will do you up just fine and would be my choice, you can switch between dipole and bipole and just see which one you like better. I started with an Oinker and still use it as my pro for the Reel Time Theater Rig, it does just fine although along the way like many many others here I have added an seperate amp.

I am much happier with floor standing rears (old rt12's that are designed like Ri8's). I have FXi5 Surrounds. If you can get away with the floor standing rears I would highly suggest it. When you start putting power into them, the floors sound a heck of a lot better.Testing
