Polk LS70's

I had one of my 7.5 midrange drivers go out on my one of my LS70's. I ordered one and was sent a MW8103, but the LS70 calls for a MW8100. It is Friday and I was wondering if I should put it in. I called, but Polk was closed. The magnet is huge on the MW8103. I have a pacemaker I am afraid to get to close to it.
Does anyone know if they are inner changeable? Sure would appreciate some help. I have had this set for a number of years. I will say the people that work at Polk are very helpful. Thanks for any response.- gle56

I have LS70's also, and the upper 7.5" driver is out on one of them. Actually, it still functions but the sound is distorted in the midrange. Apparently the voice coil was blown. I called Polk and they were out of the MW8100's, and calls to other speaker suppliers and repair shops were also fruitless. Apparently, Polk makes their own drivers in a non-standard size (unlike most other speaker companies) so it is difficult to find a replacement part or even a close substitute.
I ended up swapping the upper and lower drivers on the speaker (they are both identical MW8100's). Now the midrange is again smooth and crisp. I can detect a little bit of distortion in the mid-bass region (since the lower driver handles bass while the upper driver functions as the midrange) but it is barely noticeable in most of the types of music I play.
Due to the age of these speakers, (I'm the 2nd owner, as they came with the media room in the house I just bought) I think it will only be a matter of time before the other drivers give out. Does anyone have any better ideas on what to do? I'd hate to replace them since they do sound and look really good. -
Hey did anyone have any luck getting a replacement MW8103 I think one of mine on my RT16 is blown. I read somewhere on here that I could drop the crackling one down to the bottom and it wouldn't be as noticeable. Is that right? I'm new to this speaker thing and need some help. If anyone has an inside scoop or can help me email me at bigbub39@sbcglobal.net. Thanks in advance.
