I had no idea Pioneer are aiming so high.
Perhaps its the newb in me, and this is all old news for most of you, but these look all business.
I thought Pioneer were all about mass market AVRs and DVD players.

TAD are quite high end. Pioneer has a speaker under the Pioneer label that is built with the TAD trickledown tech, and they are wonderful from what I understand.

Pioneer came up with the TAD label to get away from some of the stigma, but yes, they are up there with the big boys.

In Japan, Pioneer also has the "Exclusive" brand for its ultra high-end electronics. These are not the Pioneer Elite stuff.

330lbs! Odd shape to it. I wonder why they're so short too?

Last year Stereophile review a pair of $9000.00 Pioneers and they seemed to do well. It did seem odd to me as I have not seen a Pioneer of that calibre in a long time. Usually they stick to high priced Plasmas and mass market AVR's. I think thier name is a detriment due to this.. Speakers priced that high puts them in the B&W, Sonus Fabre ranges, tough competition.

I bet if you look at any Pioneer board though - at least 1/4 of the people that purchase a 330# TAD speaker end up trying to run it with one of these and saying "I just spent x dollars on these speakers - what do you mean I need an amp, isn't there one in my reciever???"
