    Bela Fleck and Flecktones - "Live at the Quick" DVD

    The concert artistry and energy is exceptional.

    Victor Wooten's improvised instrumental version of "Amazing Grace" on electric bass is awesome;
    Andy Narell's steel pans add a Caribbean flavor on a couple numbers;
    Jeff Coffin plays on two saxaphones at once;and
    the Tuvan throat singing by Congar ol'Ondar is something amazing you may not have encountered before.
    Bela performs Bach's prelude to Violin Partita #3, transposed for the banjo!

    Although the 5.1 soundtrack is Dolby Digital and not DTS, it and the stereo LPCM are very good quality.

    Skillful blend of concert footage with carefully placed
    interviews of band members (beginning with Bela),
    gives a sense of history of the band, how each
    individual musician is a master and creative force of/on
    his chosen instruments and at the musical "frontier,"
    and how each contributes to the genre-busting fusion.

    Bela Fleck - banjo, electric synth banjo, guitar

    Jeff Coffin - tenor. alto, and soprano saxophones, clarinet, and flute

    RoyEl "Futureman" (Wooten) - synth-ax drumitar, acoustic drums and assorted percussion, vocals

    Victor Lemonte Wooten - electric basses, floor synth
    (His improvised instrumental version of "Amazing Grace" is awesome)

    Featured Special Guests:

    Sandip Burman - tabla

    Andy Narell - steel pans & keyboards

    Paul Hanson - bassoon

    Paul McCandless - oboe, English horn, soprano & sopranino saxophones

    Congar ol'Ondar - Tuvan throat singing

    I recommend the new Tom Petty box "Runnin' Down a Dream". It includes a 2 DVD, 4 hour documentary directed by Peter Bogdanovich (really), a CD of music found in the movie only, and a DVD of the Heartbreakers 30th Anniversary Concert filmed live in Gainesville, FL last fall. The concert DVD includes Stevie Nicks as a guest. The band, as always, kicks ****. Covers this time around include Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well", "I'm a Man" done Yardbirds style, and Van Morrison's "Mystic Eyes". Highly recommended. The box is selling for $25 at Best Buy. Anybody else would be asking $60. The concert DVD alone is worth the $25. :D

    Depends on which artists/bands you like. For me these are some killers.

    Alice In Chains - Unplugged
    Staind - Unplugged
    David Gilmour - Remember That Night
    - In Concert (meltdown i think its called)
    Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live
    Eric Clapton - Crossroads Blues Festival
    Live8 - Lots of great live performances (Including PF getting together for a few tunes)
    Meatloaf - Live with the Melborne Symphony Orchestra

    There are alot more but i think these stick out as some must see's.

    Definitely get the Metallica concert DVD with the San Fransisco symphony orchestra. It is awesome and I'd imagine pretty impressive evn if you don't care for heavy metal.

    My wife and I saw Metallica with the Symphony in SF(Berkeley). We were supposed to be about 30 rows back or so. It was becoming clear as we walked down the aisle we wouldn't be sitting in our assigned seats since there was a giant boom with camera at the end where we were supposed to be.

    Guy comes up as we are looking confused checks our tickets and proceeds to lead us to the 3rd row from the stage. The guy doing sound tells me to be careful since their gear was in the 4-5 seats next to and behind me. Needless to say my wife and I were psyched. Awesome stuff!

    To be honest I've never seen the DVD - only the one video I believe on MTV and I didn't see us. Hmm, I guess I should seek this out to see if the rest of the world knows I pick my nose in public or something :eek:
