Picked these up tonight ( Well boxed them up , picking them up Wed ) ...Lady bought them new ...came with an addendum to the manual ( All original manuals..etc included ) that explains how the 6513's work. Too busy testing/packing up that I forgot to bring the addendum home with me

I searched here on the forum and it was said these 6513 drivers were made to tame the midrange response ? All I know is they sounded great, hopefully they make it into the Compendium I should receive today ? Any of the resident Guru's know any more about these...and to why they didnt tone down the midrange with the crossover ? They sure work though...

They were kept out of the sun...in a family room nobody used...just for looks this room was. By how many times she said she actually listened to them over the years...they arent even broken in yet.

When I was closely examining them...it was interesting...the dust caps on the 6513's are inverted, with their base backed up against plugs inner surface...very interesting drivers.

Yeah, they are an interesting driver that's for sure. When I had that pair here, I would put my ear to the 6513 just to see if it actually made much sound! It didn't really seem to be as predominant as the other drivers but I guess it has it's purpose. And if they go south, Polk doesn't have any plans for replacements on those drivers...from the last I heard.

That's a good looking pair of speakers. You did good!

I thought the same thing while testing them last night....at a low volume where the air coupling between the drivers themselves and the radiator is extremely low....the 6513's vibrated less then the 2 active stereo drivers as well as the 2 dim drivers. Of course the Qms is going to be drastically different from the other drivers with the weight of that plug on the moving mass...I am going to remove one when I get them home and test its parameters.

That was the same observation I had about them, too. The drivers in those speakers didn't/don't move near as much as the drivers in my SRS II's. I guess they "slow" things down a bit. The earlier version of those didn't have the donut drivers in them and neither did the 2.3 TL's. Interesting.

Yes they are...I was her first caller minutes after she posted....I was by myself last night so I couldnt take them with me...picking them up Wednesday

They are as close to the grandma with the mint Hemi Cuda in the garage with 10 miles on it as you can get.
I gave her the full 750...I figured I got my last 2 pairs of SRS big boys for 500 and 600 for the pairs...so even by letting my friend "Steal" that second set of SRS's from under me ...I get these and my SRS pair for about the same as the going rate for the one SRS pair.

I picked up the speakers today as planned...man even though its only a few inches here and a few pounds there...these are much easier to move then the 1.2's.

Question to the gurus.....have ANY of you seen the SDA speakers come with the A1 non-common ground IC in the box ???? ( US mail sticking to tradition and hasnt delivered my compendium yet....) This set of 2.3's has a factory A1 IC.....polk isolation transformer labeled as such in its encapsulated plastic shell. I just found this very interesting....because this lady had the receipt from the day she bought them...original boxes....pamphlets...addendums...manual...bass braces...the works. ( Receipt in her name as well ) So I know the A1 IC came with them.

When I got my last pair of SRS's they were with the silver sevens and the guy had made his own A1 IC ( Not polk ...completely custom made ) ....just wondering if any of you had seen this before ?

I've heard of them coming with them. Seems there was another recent thread where the AI IC came with them.

And since those have the pin/blade IC, you could just add on a new binding post and make a single speaker wire connection. At least, that's what I did on my buddy's 2.3's. I replaced all 4 binding posts plus added the 1 extra for the IC since it didn't have a cable with them.

Here's a picture of the crossover back inside the cabinet after the new Solen/Mills upgrades...and the 5 new binding posts...back in the cabinet. I had to ziptie up some of those loose speaker wires floating around in there!

They donuts were per design to reduce the driver gain in SDA effects, if I remember correctly.
