FXi5 vs. FXi3 performance
I am looking to replace some old Mirage FRX-R surrounds with the Polk Audio FXi line surround speaker. Has anyone done a side by side on these two surround speakers who would be able to articulate a difference in the performance. In looking at the specs, it appears the 5 will reach a lower tonal frequency, but was hoping to hear thoughts and/or comments about how these speakers will perform by some current users. Thanks in advance for any input provided.

I listened to both at a Fry's and went with the FXi3s. I didn't hear a big deifference between then and decided on the cheaper and smaller pair. I have had the 3s now for a couple of months in a 5.1 setup and I love them.

I've also found no benefit in the FXi5 vs the FXi3. It's a solid surround loudspeaker.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Great question. I was pondering the same thing. Sounds like a pair of 3's might be heading my way soon (if I can sneak em past the better half...)2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

I installed the set of FXi3s tonite which I picked up at Crutchfield for $250. Best price I could find, like noted by Adam above, even cheaper than ebay. Happy so far, and looking forward to breaking them in along with the new pair of RTi6s I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Fry's who had those clearanced for under $200. The new Polk 2008 A series has helped drive the prices down, but the old RTi series speakers and surrounds still sound really good to me. Good quick service by Crutchfield made it easy. Thanks to everyone who responded to the original thread.[
