Speaker subwoofer too close to wall?

Tried to use search function but couldnt find an answer ....

In my setup I have the subwoofer portion of the LSi25 facing the wall, only 7-8 inches from the wall. Will this be a problem? or could I put it even closer to the wall to get the other LSi away from the dining room entrance a bit more (makes me nervous that some nut running into the living room will clip the speaker). My sig. is linked to my showcase to give a sense on placement.

Thanks ahead of time ....

I have many questions but will post them one at a time :)

I'd say 7" - 8" is way too close from the wall. Probably sounds boomy as hell. You're gonna hafta spend lots of time fooling around with placement to find the best spot for them.

I guess I knew it but didnt want to believe it  Not much I can do in the room that Im in, as I look around and see that there is no better place ... since I just bought the home I cant say "Well next time I move" as that wont be any time soon. Ill tinker around with the settings and see if I can minimize some of that boom off the right wall.

    Thanks.

The PSW1000 manual says the driver should be at least 6" from the wall....so you are meeting that requirement. You might give Polk customer service a call and see what they say.

Try flipping the left speaker to the right side and have the woofers face in. Russman gave me this tip back when I had my 15s and it helped immensely.

I will definately give them a call on Monday to see what they reccommend in this situation. In the interim I have turned down the subwoofer volume to 1/4 to calm down the effect. It seems more tamed now but still we seek some suggestions.

    Thanks.

Would that not cause a similar scenario? That is me having the subwoofer grill right against my TV stand, except than Ill have both against a surface. I am all for giving it a try if it improves the sound ... even if moving those 95 lb speaks is such a pain in the @rse :)
