This is gonna be awesome! Kinda like Pacino and DeNiro in "Heat."

Will it eventually come out in Blu-ray or HD-DVD?

Looks like Ridley Scott switched studios to Universal, so this will probably be out as an HD-DVD exclusive next year.

Right now Universal is HD DVD only so if nothing changes between now and its DVD release you can expect to see it on HD DVD but no Blu-Ray.

Yep there has been a screener out for about 2 weeks (a screener is what the movie company gives a movie reviewer to view at home) So it was DVD quality but only in 2.0 surround. Also from what I hear the video quality was on the dark side.

saw American Gangster over the weekend.. Wow, blew me away. Ridley Scott is the man. He can do no bad in my book. THe movie is violent, in your face, but if needs to be to be able to pull off a movie of this caliber.

Big props to Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

Run, don't walk and go see this movie.

Easily the best movie out right now, easily.

Transformers was the best movie of the summer, this is the best movie of the fall/winter season.

Please don't take your kids to this movie.. it's not for kids, it's only for adults. Leave the kids with grandma for the night. :)

If it wasn't for Washington I'd see it, I just can't stand him, such a boring / mundane actor.

there are very few actors I like.. the ones who are flexible and can play many different roles, instead of the same role over and over again in movies. I like actors who take on the role and make it believeble. he does that in this movie.

Ron-P, it's to bad you can't get past that, you'll be missing a good movie.

I have to disagree on this one. I think he is a good, well rounded actor.

Huh? He's one of the best in the business. It's O.K. if you don't like him, but a "mundane actor?" C'mon.

Yeah I think Denzel is far from mundane. As a matter of fact I've watched every movie he's made I believe. One of my favorites is "Fallen."

Just watched it and I gotta agree with tonyb, although I didn't hate the movie. I'd give it a solid C, mainly for its historical significance.

The movie was kinda choppy with lots of holes in it, like layers of swiss cheese draped on a lavish plate of lasagne. At first, you think it's gonna be good, but after 3 hours, you rush to the bathroom and take a refreshing dump.

Of course, it's definitely worth watching just to see how this guy pulled it off. It's also an important movie to show why it's often difficult to discern the cops from the criminals.

BTW -- for you trivia buffs -- this movie is basically the sequel to "Hoodlum" which starred Lawrence Fishbourne as the gangster Bumpy Johnson, which was Frank Lucas' "father" in this movie.
