balanced or unbalanced

I'm wondering if there is an advantage to hooking up balanced connections from pre/pro to amp over using the un-balanced RCA connections. Thanks.

    mainly noise rejection. If you have a problem with noise with rca's, or have a really long run use the balanced conections
