Its better to have it supervised then have someone doing on the street with no supervision and O.D'ing. Also that way the 11yo kids that are getting Birth control at school don't have to walk down the street and watch the junkie shooting up in front of them, Then not only are they secretly having sex but they now know how to shoot up.. So I would look at it like a public service. Why cant the US just realize the cant stop the use and import of illegal drugs? I look at it like Prohibition in the United Stated from 1920 to 1933. It only took the government 13 years to change their minds. LoL

    Please note ---

California had found under its state guidelines, that the supervised use of Drugs may or will cause Cancer and should use at your own risk.

Is it really? Is that really the best thing we can do? Shouldn't we either:

    A). Get them off drugs
B). Leave them alone and let Darwin go to work.
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

As soon as we loose the right to Bare arms that might happen... As for comparing Drug User's to Murderers and Sex offenders is crazy.
Most people that use a illegal drug uses it recreational that do no harm to anyone unlike the two category's to tried to link them to.

I understand where your coming from. But when something is illeagal, then its illeagal. The safe house is not helping people get off of drugs, its saying "if you take drugs, come join us and we will do it together".

I can see a child, telling his friend. "My daddy isnt home, he is at the drug house doing drugs, when I get old enough, he said I can go with him and not get in trouble, because he said it was ok to do drugs over there"

Do you know why drugs are not legalized? Its too big of a business for or government that we the citizens pay for. You know what I'm tried of paying for it! Legalize some and tax them to support the fight against the others.

I still am amazed with the parents that ALLOW drug use and sex in their home. They say, "its ok at least I am there when he/she does it, i am monitoring it.." Amazing..

Thats the same parent that says, "its not my kids fault, its the schools fault, the teachers fault, the government's fault, but NOT MY child's fault or NOT my fault".

Legalizing drugs vs not legalizing them is not the argument.

They're illegal now; if they want them to be legal, just legalize them. if they're still illegal, you can't just say "well, they're illegal, but here's someplace you can take them safely." It's ridiculous.

Not to mention that needle drugs are not "recreational." Pot is recreational and hurts next to no one. Needle drugs (heroin, mostly) are an actual blight on society.

Where is the drug head getting money to buy drugs? Now that he/she can do it anytime he/she likes, how will they support the habbit.

The ones who use drugs that DO WORK, probably do very little drugs compared to the real drug heads, and are able to hide it in their home. So the ones that show up to the safe house, are very bad off and have "other" means of aquiring money to buy the drugs.

    Tell you what Shannon....

    Think about this....

What if that drug house was next door to you?? In your neighborhood.

Would you move?? Then you move and at your new home there was another drug house built next door? Would you move again? Only to find out that every corner of every block there was a big, nice, beautiful drug house..

Legalize it and take it out of the houses!

But then again "just because its illegal" people aren't going to do it.
Let me flip the script on you guys. Automobile accidents account for more deaths in the US then drugs,Cancer or anything. We have a speed limit right? But you guys that keep saying its Illegal to do drugs period but do you ever speed? Thats what I thought! Just because YOU seen that speed limit sign you still go ahead and speed anyway. Shannon, what exactly is your point? You're like AJ Soprano, just saying things for the sake of saying them.

No one's saying that laws are 100% effective against stopping drug use. But they can't be blatantly ignored by the governing body. In your analogy, it's like having a stretch of highway with a speed limit of 65, but it's known as a "safe zone", where no matter how recklessly or fast you're driving, cops aren't allowed to pull you over. What's the point of the speed limit? Yes, people are going to break it, but there's always the threat of being pulled over keeping the majority of people in check. If you remove the threat, there's no point in having the law.

If you really believe things like HEROIN should be legal, I think you need to read up on it a bit. Find me one casual heroin user with a good job taht's been using for more than.... 6 months, and I'll give you a thousand bucks.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

So should we leagalize speeding? If I get caught speeding, I either get a huge ticket or go to jail. There are consequences for speeding as there should be consequinces for using drugs.

Should we say, "well everyone speeds so lets make it leagal, since everyone does it" ?

    Who is saying its OK?

When I speed its not OK.

But...Thanks for saying that...I will make a real effort not to speed anymore. Because the point you made without even trying to make it, has come accross to me that , I am wrong for speeding, and if I get stopped and wrote a ticket or thrown in jail, I deserve every bit of it.

You just changed my way of thinking...thank you.

Call me crazy but I consider the guy doing 5 over on the open highway just a *little* bit different than the junky that just robbed the convenience store. But hey, you stick to your morals.

In who's eyes? Yours? Both are illegal!

Guys I'm not try'n to step on your toes. But its amazing about how some people can say "ya that's illegal but what I do that's illegal is OK.". It really shows the (please for give this word but I use it for a lack of a better one to use) Hypocrites in society! Live by thy sword, Die by thy Sword!

You seem to be connecting something being "OK" with something being "allowed", and that's maybe why the confusion. I don't think when I speed it's "right" or should be legal or allowed; I'm willing to accept when i get pulled over that I was doing something wrong (and I rarely speed btw). Similarly, if someone is shooting illegal drugs into their arm, they know they're doing something wrong, and if theyr'e caught they should be punished. Not coddled and allowed a "safe haven" to break the law.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
