Anyone have &/or recommend a good home sound system for iPod?

I know Polk & Bose make them...

Thanks for your help!

Squeezebox. It's the best if you want to integrate it into your system.
    Sharp Elite 70
    Anthem D2V 3D
    Parasound 5250
    Parasound HCA 1000 A
    Parasound HCA 1000
    Oppo BDP 95
Von Schweikert VR4 Jr R/L Fronts
    Von Schweikert LCR 4 Center
    Totem Mask Surrounds X4
    Hsu ULS-15 Quad Drive Subwoofers
    Sony PS3
    Squeezebox Touch

Polk Atrium 7s on the patio just to keep my foot in the door.

    Bottom Feeder,

Lasareth is right. You will hear the difference. Lp's sound best, then CD's then MP3's. To get the most out of your digital recordings (MP3"s) you are going to want to save them in appless losseless format. You are going to want to send the music from your PC to you System via a music bridge or some other method with Coaxial Digital output. You then will have to use the Caox in on your receiver/preamp/integrated or purchase an outboard DAC. This is not what you have to do, but it is what will give you the best sound from your digital files.

Yeah, I know there'll be a huge difference, but I'm moving my main system into my new man cave (!) and need something smaller for the wifey in the living room!

What about a sonic t-amp and some bookshelves? I've used this combo with some great results...

Thanks, but what is a "sonic t-amp?"

    What is the budget?

a "sonic t-amp" is a T-Amp made by the company Sonic Impact. The normal model usually runs around $30 is a very good bang for your buck amp, so long as you are fine with less then 10wpc of power.

I ran a pair of Onix X-ls with a sonic impact amp with a Ipod and was amazed at the results.

Looks like partsexpress isn't carrying them anymore... They used to be about $30. With a different enclosure and some good binding posts it's a cool little amp. Today I actually spent my lunch transferring mine into a new black plastic case for a more subtle look.

Maybe even combine it with some diy bookshelves using a full range fostex driver and you're set!

Ok you IPOD experts I wish to place my IPOD in a wall dock so it can feed a whole house amp system. This system is 35' feet away in closet, I wish to feed that with a cat5 cable which I already ran to IPOD wall dock area.

Anyone know what product is best for this. And what product has the most bang for buck in this department.

    Speakers
    Carver Amazing Fronts
    CS400i Center
    RT800i's Rears
    Sub Paradigm Servo 15

    Electronics
    Conrad Johnson PV-5 pre-amp
    Parasound Halo A23
    Pioneer 84TXSi AVR
    Pioneer 79Avi DVD
    Sony CX400 CD changer
    Panasonic 42-PX60U Plasma
    WMC Win7 32bit HD DVR

Hey! Get your own thread! :D

    Thanks for the info, folks!

My budget is somewhere around $250, give or take $100. I've never heard of the T-amps, so I'll look into those! Thanks for the link!

    "Smaller for the wifey"

So I guess that rules out a pair of Monitor 7's? :D With a t-amp and those you could be easily in for under $150 and it would smoke any mass produced docking station you might come across. (the super high end ones excluded)
