Just picked this up today via AmazonMP3. I like it a lot. I hope to see a lot more of this from them. It's a purely instrumental, jazzy funky groovy record and definitely different.

Yes, very good album. If you liked that, you may be interested in their newest release, The Mix Up. It's all instrumental as well.Wristwatch--->Crisco

My pleasure. It is, as is the case with the rest of the Beastie Boys' catalog, available on vinyl.Wristwatch--->Crisco

It's a shame that the B-boys have been lumped with "Fight for your Right..."
They've been brilliant for years.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

Yeah, 23 years! I remember demanding that the DJ at my uncle's wedding play "Fight for your Right" when it was just coming out, much to the the chagrin of my great aunt, the nun. The things that make me feel old.....Wristwatch--->Crisco -

Not brilliant enough for the R-n-R Hall of fame  . I can't believe they got the nod over a band like Cheap Trick. "Ain't That A Shame"

I heard some interesting Depeche Mode instrumental recently. Is this some sort of trend - 80's bands branch out?
Don't know what to tell you regarding the Depeche Mode material, but "The In Sound From Way Out" was released in '96. It's a compilation of material that was released on albums starting with "Check Your Head" in '92. They also have a compilation of their punk/hardcore stuff called "Aglio e Olio"; that's the genre their roots would be classified in.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

They showed up on Rhapsody Chill playlist, but it's since been automatically updated with new material so I don't know for sure what it was I heard. Maybe someone else can fill in my blanks.
DM is probably one of the most remixed bands in history so it's doesn't surprise me a bit. Not a trend (atleast w/DM) but more of a constant."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. No, I mean DM sounding different enough from People Are People or Yaz to show up on a downtempo playlist. I only know DM from 80's pop charts so I guess the music here if not new goes under the new to me list...
Yeah, DM has several different stages they went thru. Today (and for the past 10 years) they are quite different. Still DM, but they have evolved a bit."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment.
