any idea what could cause a recovery to fail? i have an hp compaq f730us laptop (its a cheapie and i regret it) and burned a set of recovery discs two dvds had to reinstall because of problems i had.. well now i have a bigger one.. it fails around 100% when its switching over to installing factory programs or whatever.. whats the chances my discs are just faulty? i'm mostly asking because HP customer service is absolutely horrible and ill explode if they're recovery discs fail to work.. also any other ideas of why it would fail

Dude, unlike audio problems where well-versed enthusiasts on this message board (and others like it) can troubleshoot various problems, its safe to say that computer problems are a whole new ball game. It could be just about anything with a computer. Hardware, software, operator error....you name it.
If you can't resolve the problem through recovery discs, you may need to format the harddrive and reinstall the OS and all the drivers (losing any data you havent backed up to an external source in the process). Otherwise, you will have to hire a consultant or (in the extreme case) dump it in the trash and buy a new one.
All that said, you might want to try a more appropriate venue for finding help of this nature.
Good luck.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
