Thanks to Joe (hearingimpared) I was able to purchase his old VPI Mark III after he upgraded. I picked it up last week at PF and got it set up today. Joe was kind enough to walk me through the whole setup over the phone so I did not mess anything up. Well after an hour of adjusting I put Brothers in Arms on and I was floored by how good it sounded. I then played the Amanda McBroom album that I won at PF and was simply amazed. I want to say thanks to Joe for hooking me up with such a great table and I can know say my system has reached a whole new level. Here is a pic of my new baby.

Man, I JUST basicallly gave away an old NOS Supex 900 E + Super cartridge.
    A poor mans Koetsu.
Not the best tracking cartridge, but a beautiful liquid midrange with outstanding imaging.
That is a nice VPI, Hearingimpaired did you right.

I should have never sold all my records, bummer

First off, where the heck is Da Clamp? Secondly did you ty wrap the transformer in the power line conditioner? Hook up the PLC and you will get a dead quiet motor.

I'm glad you are diggin it! That table is tweaked out to the gills. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of that little gem as I did over the years.

    However one warning . . .

. . . Upgraditis will hit in about 94 days  . . . VPI has a new super platter that will give you a woody when you hear the bass response and blackness the mids & highs come out of!!!:D I also see a power cord in your future!;)

Yeah, the Grace was a decent cartridge.
Actually,, the Supex was a sort of Koetsu, designed by Sugano.

Oh yes, Sao Win, and the strain gage with Jeff Rowlands strain gage box in a Win Labs TT.
Dynavector Rubys, and Grado's with Kinergetics hysterrisis canceling boxes, man, the good old days of analog :)

I got conned into going CD, had hudreds of albums.
Gosh, I had an old Oracle TT, and Elite Rock, the Win, and a SOTA.
of course, an AR and yes, a Technics DD TT, he he.

Nothing BUT silver litz in my arms :)

I once heard a Dynavector Ruby with a Dynavector transformer wound with Silver Litz wire.
    THat was a religious experience.

ABX testing actually took all the fun out of audio for me.

It used to be so exciting to re wire a tone arm, re install it and set the VTA.
We used to even adjust the speaker wire ground spacers for best image.
Didn't want any signal lost in carpet

We even turned interconnects and speaker wires around, and listened.

I almost shot my wife for using the microwave during a listening session with the guys.
    She polluted our power.

    Then came ABX .......

    You know the rest :(

Here is a great place to get RF shielding stuff http://www.ferrishield.com/html/ferrites/widebandcables.html

    They have excellent tech support.

We used the ferrite donuts to wrap our TT cords with, keep the RF out.
I still wrap my preamps cords inside the ferrite donuts.
The solid ferrite rings are better then the Rafio Shack ones.

ABX testing may not reveal differences i can hear, but i feel better, bite nails less.

Just the THOUGHT of all that RF wreaking havoc inside my stuff ....
