This is a pretty across the retailers discounting of disney/BV titles etc.
Amazon is doing the same thing. Might be better since they sell them at a discount initially.

Also, BB has a $14.99 blu-ray sale.

With transformers coming out on hd-dvd, this is a great week to go bargain hunting for blu-rays as the studios try to blunt the sales effect this exclusive will have for hd sales. -
What are the good movies to own to show off your Blu-Ray player's sound and visual quality?
I have already ordered 8 Below and Chicken little.
I have "Open Season", "X-Men last stand", "Black Hawk Down".
I was thinking 5th element but i have heard that its not encoded properly and the future version of it will correct this. Have they come out with a new version?
What's else is on people's list?
I'll be ordering following this season
SpiderMan3
Rataouville
Shrek 3 (not sure of HD version is coming out)
Speakers=>Salk Soundscape 8, Soundscape Center,Surrounds-Dali Rubicon LCR, Lsi7
PreAmp, Amp => Marantz AV8801, ATI 6007 amp, Oppo HA-1 DAC
Source => Sonore MicroRendu, Oppo BDP-103, Mede8er 600XD, Dune HD Smart D1, Synology DS1813+(16TB)

You can get a good idea for top tier movies here:

Yes, they remastered 5th element and cleaned up its problems. They pulled all the old disks from the shelves and offered replacements for owners of the old version.
Chicken Little and BHD are supposed to be great examples of PQ. Also all the Pirates movies from disney are supposed to be great PQ and reference quality AQ for their LPCM soundtracks. Also, I believe that x-men has a 6.1 soundtrack as does Crank. Which is supposed to have great PQ also. -

Check out Apocalypto, one of the best looking movies I've seen on either format. I also really like MI: 3 to show off PQ as well.Casey

BTW, it sounds like many CC's are doing the BOGO for HD DVD's under $30 too.

Looks like a bug in their system that only works on in store (not online) purchases less than $30. But it seems to work for all titles if the store honors it. According to reports on the forums, some stores are catching the mistake and only honoring titles in their ads. Other stores are running out of stock on everything. Better jump on this one quick. -
got me enemy of the state blu-ray and shooter hd dvd last night for $15 each. going back first thing when they open today to get transformers and a few other with the bogo.

Got "Chicken Little" and "8 Below". BTW amazon jacked up the price by 50 cents later in the afternoon.
Still a good deal though.
I went to BB last night and they had "5th Element" for $14.95 but did not know if its remastered version or an old one.
Is there a similar link for best looking HD-DVD on AVSForum like they have for Blu-Ray.

Nice haul. Sometimes it is nice to have a big box store who's employees don't know what they're doing. The line employees of course are just scanning the titles in. But some guy who programs the system screwed up big time letting opening titles like transformers go out the door for half off.
Unfortunately the CC stores around me were either picked over yesterday or didn't have a very good selection to begin with. I don't usually shop at CC so I don't know which. However, the day was not a total loss as I stopped off at Frys and picked up a bunch of 10 buck blu-rays (bogo deals at $19.99). Good week . -
WELL, i went back to circuit city to get my third wave and they pulled the plug on the deal. soooo... i went on down to best buy, showed 'em my circuit city receipt and they price-matched for me. BOGO. and this worked for $34 titles as well. now i'm about $350 deep in hd and blu. but worth twice as much. i'm gonna hate myself when it comes time to watch these movies and the electric company shuts my power off.;) :rolleyes:

For Apocalypto , I second that...stunning visuals and sound....you wanna show it off...thats a great one. The Wild ( Animated ) is also stunning...look at the Lion's mane...it looks so realThe first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

I think the easiest way to tell is that the old 5E had only an LPCM track for lossless audio. The new 5E has both an LPCM and Dolby TrueHD track for lossless audio. It should state it right on the box. 10 bucks at Frys with the bogo $19.99 disks offer. This, unlike the CC offer, is an official promotion. The blu-ray bogos from disney and sony should still be on this week. -

Bizill, one way to take the sting out of your purchases might be to buy some of the blu-ray movies from the official promos at amazon and frys. The CC deals were great, but the half off was on pretty high prices to begin with ($30+ buck titles, ouch). You might be able to save like 5 bucks more per disk if you can buy them from amazon or frys bogos and just return them to CC. Don't know how many blu-rays you bought that are on the official disney and sony lists, but it could make a difference if you bought some disks that are only 10 bucks at frys. -

I wasn't thinking of frys online, but maybe you don't have a B&M one near you. Just thinking if you had the time to go to CC and pay tax, if you could get to a frys, you could save a few bucks. A lot of people over at AVS bought hundreds of dollars in disks but they didn't seem to know that quite a few disks they were loading up on were actually cheaper with the bogo at frys since they discount to retail better in the first place.
Anyways, in addition to getting cheaper blu-rays, visiting frys also had one more plus for me. While I was waiting for a price adjustment at the software counter, a guy came up with the news that they had 25 wiis just in. Thought what the heck and walked out with a new game system too. Truly a good week for my electronics shopping...:D. -

Usually the opposite happens to me...I go for PC parts and walk away with at least a couple of blu-rays I dont like the Indiana Jones Frys ( Brokaw ) ...The Sunnyvale Frys and the Fremont Frys are awesome though...WAY less " Returned " items and they always have the items in stock...Frys is a weekly trip for meThe first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
