Long time Polk owner (since I bought my SDA 2B's which are in the garage because the wife says "they're too big, and you are not in college anymore").

So, now I have this mix of Polk speakers in a very challenging room.

Here's the view from behind the main seating area (a couch):

Those are LC265i's in the front wall (used to be my SDA 2B's but they got banished from the room when we got the new TV a couple of years ago). The in-wall speaker positions were constrained by a lot of 2x6's in the exterior wall such that I didn't have a lot of left to right manipulation. And the TV cabinet is set up to be directly opposite where my wife wants the couch, so I couldn't really slide everything left to get the TV in the middle of the left and right speaker. But since the couch is about 18-19 ft back from the speakers, I don't notice any "off center" sound".

Here's a shot of more of the room "challenge" -- this is taken from the front corner of the room (you catch a corner of the back of the TV):

If you catch a glance under that fireplace, you can see a wire. My sub is "hidden" here. Another view of the Polk PSW200 sub is here:

Rounding out the speakers in the room are two Polk AB-805 in wall speakers behind the couch, and two Polk FXI30 speakers sitting on the lower shelf of two end tables on either side of the couch.

The only non Polk speaker is an Infinity CC3 shown in the pictures below:

If you are wondering how I ended up with a non Polk speaker, given that all the other speakers are Polk, is that the center speaker was bought when I had the SDA 2B's in the house, and the Infinity has some adjustment dials that at least allowed the center to be made to "best match" the SDA's.

Well, now I want to get something to match better match the front LC265i's.

I've considered all of the following:
  • LSi9 as a center (my current choice if I can find someone to split a pair)
  • LCiC and build a 1 cubit foot enclosure
  • LC265i chopping off the top and bottom lip that is meant to sit flush against the wall, and build a 1 cubic foot enclosure - I would need to do this because my TV cabinet area is only 19 7/8 inches wide, which is also why the LSiC is out

So, Polk experts, any advice or recommendations?

Charlie
P.S. The wife is a keeper. Other than not understanding the need for BIG speakers, she is well trained :D
P.S.S. Receiver is new Onyko TX-SR705 ehich does have a 4 ohm speaker setting.

Well you probably won't find my post helpful at all, but if a room was ever fitting for a set of nicely finished speakers that were acknowledged as the aesthetically pleasing pieces of furniture that the SDA are, your room is it. I always find shoehorned designs with visual compromises to be way harsher on the scenery than honest, "here are the speakers!" setups.

Like I said, this won't be helpful to your center needs :)

Yeah, the SDA 2B's did look and sound nice :(

But I've had the LC265i's in the wall for a couple of years now, and they actually are surprisingly less of a step backwards than I feared. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the SDA's back in the house, but the whole set up is ok for the use the system is getting now (mainly movies).

After 28 years of marriage you get compromises down pretty well.

Well, the recommendation window is now closed.

I've purchased a single LSi9 from an individual who was only using one LSi9 as a center speaker.
