New H/K Amp...Change Wiring?

I've owned a set of Polk RM67XX/404 for awhile now, but changing out the amp to the H/K 247. Current AVR (old JVC) have wired my fronts into the 404 sub - wondering if anyone has any quick setup tips if they have the same or very similar AVR?

Have heard good things using H/K, looking forward to it...just want to start off right and any help is appreciated...

Cheers

    Hey there,

I own an AVR 247 as well. I am in love with this amp for sure. I have hooked up my RTi8's, CSi5, and FXi3's through the amp rather than doing circuitry through the sub. I find that this is a simple and very effective way of driving thee speakers. I'm sure yours will be similar.

Hook your speakers up, run EZSet EQ and you're off to the races.

    :)

Yeah, I would hook you sub up to the LFE / Subwoofer Preout with a subwoofer cable / RCA cable, run the other speakers directly to the corresponding HK speaker output, run EZEQ a couple times, make sure your crossovers are set correctly, and you should be good to go.

I have the similar, but lesser 147 model. I also used coaxial cable to connect the subwoofer on the LFE channel and connected all the speakers directly to the rear of the harman/Kardon. Very pleased with the results obtained. I am also very happy with EzSet/EQ, but I am going to try a sound meter too just for a comparison.

You might need some extra cables for the 247. Think about connecting all your video sources dierectly to the 247, and then use just one HDMI cable to the TV (which is not possible on our 147, since there is no video switching capability on the 147 from analog connection inputs to HDMI output). Video sources not connected to the 247 via HDMI will need a seperate digital audio connection (at least for 5.1): either optical audio or coaxial.
    Alea jacta est!

Thanks much for the replies - that's 3-0 in favour of wiring direct to the amp + LFE - will give it a shot.
