Just watched it ... that is amazing ... I couldnt help but laugh at them as they are insane and rich, a great combination as you can express your insanity nicely.

ABX: Funny though in another thread you stated "A wire is a wire is a wire", so if you look up to these audiophiles in Athens than you would certainly not think a wire is a wire is a wire .... far from it ....

My name is ABX, go figure ?
Their systems are awesome in some ways.
Some cool speakers and amps, and attempts to control vibration can have benefits.
Did you see the one dude's eyes when they asked him about purifying the power
    That look was priceless.

I loved the "O" faces at the end... My wife probably shakes her head when I have my eyes closed and am tapping my fingers to the music.

My favorite part is when the reporter/director dude is asking the audiophiles how much they have spent on their systems and their wives are in their presence .... that part cracks me up ... the wive's eyes are widening and they dont want to freak out in front of the camera. You can tell for years theyve been lied to as far as how much they've been spending but in front of the camera the audiophiles want to show off the true value of their systems which their wives have been in the dark about.

My current electronics are mere pocket toys to these guys but if I even mentioned the true value of them in the presence of my girlfriend she would 'chit' her undies and freak. I told her I spent $40-50 bucks on my shipment of cords from Signal Cable when in fact I spent $550. No doubt these dudes say they spend 250 Euros on an amp to their wives and actually spend 25,000 Euros.

    Funny stuff

Yeah, I actually saw a couple of them almost bow their heads in apology when asked about money spent.
I can understand neurotic audiophiles, I was one at one time.

They never talk about room interaction with the speakers and how that may change the sound.

Also if music was their love why not go the live music shows and save alot of money.

Hobby gone nuts, but fun to watch.

I am sure every audiophile can realate.
Ever been up late at night when it is sounding soo good and said to yourself 'I wish my friends can hear this" ?
So, you invite them over, and for some reason, it does not sound the same, but nothing has changed.

I think we have all been there before, it is our minds playing tricks on us.

I think OCD plays into some of the obsession, but the pursuit of audio nirvana, is not something I disrespect. Self made fortunes seem to follow men with obsessive drive to be the best at whatever they do.

It irks me that I do not have that kind of ****-you money to throw around on magnetically levitated turntables and stacks of rare vinyl, but I don't have any disrespect for these men, using their wealth, to actually DO SOMETHING. Rich people are usually so boring, more obsessed with status in the community than technical prowess. Hats off to these men for doing something interesting with their lives and money.

Sure... the money could be donated to charity, but audio nirvana, it is so alluring to us, that I cannot fault these men for stirring those endorphins in a natural way, although, their wives probably wish they would stir them the other natural way from time to time, instead of obsessing over the latest tweak.

I have OCD, yet I am considerably less wealthy, however, I still feel the beginnings of nirvana when I have wrung the last bit of performance from my paltry budget. I can only imagine how deep I would travel down the rabbit hole, had I a bank account with more than 5 zeros. Maybe it is for the best, eh?

I'm not so sure they are all wealthy. I don't have "****-you" money to throw around as a matter of fact I would be considered poor. I just know how to manipulate funds to get those hard to reach gems! The obsessivness makes for some very creative albeit legal ways to make some audio fund moola!!!

I loved the "I think people are wasting their money buying Mercedes;" I couldn't agree more.

    Know whata is weird ?
i have thrown a lot of money at stereo systems, only to go over some friends house with a modest, but well matched system, and leave humbled.

For some reason, I have had several musicain friends who are also audiophiles.
    Most liked Vandersteens ....

My deceased friend Bob had Vandersteen 2b's and quicksilver tubes with audio research sp 3 a 1 and an AR table, sme arm and shure v 15.

Sounded like music, it really did.
