iPod ear buds...

I've done some reading here about recommended ear buds, but the comments are a bit old, so I'm asking for some advice.

I just bought my first ipod and want to get some better ear buds but, naturally, don't want to spend a lot of jack. Hoping to spend around $50 - $75.

Amazon has the Sennheiser CX300-B Earbuds on sale for half price: $40. Anyone have &/or recommend these?

Anyway, your advice would help a lot. I haven't a clue here and I'd appreicate your helping me get one!
Thanks

JVC Marshmallows....$20.00 @ Circuit City, Walmart, etc.

Biggest bang-for-buck earbuds. Try them, and if you don't like the sound quality, you can return them. Just Google "JVC Marshmallows"....

JVC Marshmallows as reviewed at onheadphones.com

I used to use Sennheiser PX100, PX200 and MX500 as my commute headphones, but the JVC just plain blew them away.

Edit: Apparently, the JVC Marshmallows v.2 was released last month. Head-Fi.org has an ongoing thread about them....

I just bought a pair of the JVC Marshmallows and I like them. They sound pretty good. They blow away the iPod earbuds. They are also much more comfortable than the iPod earbuds. I really do not know much about headphones but I was quite surprised and pleased.

If you have the space make sure you import and download everything in Apple Lossless.

Probably a dumb question... but how much of an audible difference does that make?

I've already got 15 gigs of music on my computer & now iPod, and I'd have to re-import everything again to go lossless.

    Background music. Not so much.

If you are listening to listen to music. It is noticeable as you go up the audio food chain.

I don't mind it for listening to music over my whole house system, but I can usually tell if a song is lossless or not.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks, Keiko.

That's another of my questions - what's good fm transmitter? A guy at Rat Shack recommended an $80 Belkin and that was about it.

    Anyone recommend something???

There are a couple of other things that come into question when I think of FM transmitters.....If you have crappy radio reception in your car already, all of them will sound like ****. Also, dependent on your vehicle, sometimes there is an odd "sweet spot" that the damn thing has to sit in, usually right in the way of something like your HVAC controls. Most after-market head units have a wired solution for this that ranges from $20-$60....If you still have a stock HU, you may be able to find an OEM solution for around the same price....Much better sound quality (for a MP3), and less wires running all over the cabin of your car....As for headphones, I use a set of B&O A8s, and I have yet to find a better set....I returned the $300 set of Shure's because they gave my deaf **** a headache with those shrieking highs....
