Well, the one thing that absolutely SUCKS about this is that we don't have the schematics. Would anybody happen to have the schem's hanging around? Maybe you know who might have a set of schematics? ;)

Well I check for any short on this +29v output, I didn't find any short. Why did this 10w resistor get so hot it fell out. So I removed this board so I can fix this resistor not sure what is was because the colors are washed out but it's 17.8 ohm seems ok I resoldered it. Plug it in and it's still doesn't have any voltage output. Ok so where does this +29v wire go....

Standby it may live again.

Well it WORKS... Total price minus labor without a schematic $0.00 :p

Couldn't get that +29v up resoldered some other repair for this voltage input on an "ACCD and Hologram board, but still can't get the voltage up. Removed any wire which was wired to this voltage output still dead.

Ok so I rechecked the resistors which was so hot it removed itself from the board (These where upside down so they could fell out). Then I found R904 resistor open Crap couldn't see what it was colors where gone. The ACCD board had a 1.2 ohm so this resistor couldn't be very much bigger. The +24v output could have R905 or ? I forget or a wire, same with the +29v output, so the R904 resistor was removed. +29v is back the regulator which was powered up by this voltage can work up to 35v. So it ok, I'm sure some of these AVR didn't even a R904 resistor.

    Pauly,

I was going to PM you but thought this public post maybe good also.

I seen you where given this from another co-worker, what was you need for this?

I fixed it, I like it. My input for this was to replace an Adcom GTP-500 pre amp, I wish to replace this pre amp because I use it in a whole house audio speaker system, it's controlled by an IR which is outside. This IR picks up something headlights not sure but the IR control maybe an easy program, and turns on this pre amp, which in turns power up a HK 2000A amp. I was going to use the HK 2000A amp with this AVR, but I like the 2 channel speaker output and the hologram so I believe this will replace both Pre amp and amp. Well that was my wish, but its something I don't really need.

If you need this AVR, its ours I wish to get something for the repair and I will not ship back you need to pick up. I must be in a good mood.

i got it because my old co-worker said it blew up and he didnt want anything to do with it (Sales guy 100k plus a year) so i got it just to try and mess around thought maybe an easy fix. i tinkered with it for a bit and couldnt get it working so i just put in the closet. i didnt need it then nor do i really need it now. I did a karma on it to free up some closet space and hope that a fellow polkie could fix it and use it. Its yours. sell it, re-karama it, use it. No sense for anything Carver to sit in a closet if its got the possibility of use. Ive got my HT rig/2chnl and my zone 2 porch speakers so im set. That sucker is heavy though, aint it?
