Tyler Acoustic Owners - Tip on Placement
Polkfest was a treat in alot of ways, one of the treats was I really got to hear my speakers and see the capabilities in a larger room...
And wow.
So, back home, armed with the placement knowledge of kind of what created what I heard -- I tried some new things...
Pretty much the same placement, but I did a good - .5 to .75" tilt back... where the bottom midbass is firing at your ears and the tweeter is firing above them...
And all I can tell you is - wow. The dynamics, clarity and imaging positioning them this way is absolutely unreal...
Anyone with the revelator tweeter MUST try this positioning, big or small room...
REALLY adds alot of clarity and dynamics to the music...

These things sounded great in that big room. I sat way back and the imaging and sound stage were awesome.

Poor mans time alignment, period. Even with an MTM, you've at least aligned (or gotten closer to aligning) the bottom midbass and the tweeter voicecoils on a vertical plane.
You can do it with almost any speaker. It's even more substantial if the speakers are in absolute phase. You combine time alignment and absolute phase - the difference is anything but subtle.

I figure time alignment came into play - but negated it since the top midbass isnt even close to being aligned...
But damn, it sounds fantastic...
MUCH MUCH cleaner, clearer and dynamic -- put in some recordings I am use to and just couldnt get away. I love it.

PS - Already do the outside of the ears trick, done it with just about every speaker Ive owned - some reason thats just what I like. The focus is one of the reasons --- very concentrated center...
Just digging it - 100%, just wow...

I just put in the front spikes - no rear spikes... (they are sitting on a ceramic tile) - gives it what may be to much tilt, but makes me extremely giddy inside and just grin ear to ear! LOL

I'm curious, do you like the overall sound / imaging / sound stage better in your environment now, or as we had it setup at PF? [for those who don't know.....currently in a small room, at PF, it was in RT1's large LR]
I know, I know, different amps / pre / source, yada, yada, but whatcha think?
And I take it you are augmenting it with the subs again?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Relaxed - not as detailed or refined, but wider and more seperation (obviously since its 3 times the size of my room) - but thats about it... Also has a little more texture, more apparent in the Vocal recordings for audiophiles in track 2 --- however, hard to say its equipment/cables/room - could be my ratshack cable between the cdp and preamp, who knows - could be I dont have a SACD player and I have a really* bad burnt copy - ANYWAYS
Alot quieter noise floor
My room -
Twice as much detail (easilly) - the Odyssey gear is far more detailed than the NAD. Dynamics are through the roof. Clarity is far greater. A little brighter (personal preference there) - a slight sibilance, again most likely the room than gear... don't personally like that aspect...
So basically I would say there is much more detail and dynamics, but not as wide of stage -- similar seperation, just on a much smaller scale
And oh yes, stereo subs are where its at. I gotta have some bass or its not right to me. The bass is full, fast and rich --- blends perfectly and plays what the recording tells it to. Can't get much better.
With the new found tilt factor - I sat down and listened for a couple hours today and just basked... even through in some not so good recordings and was laughing - haha, just awesome stuff...

When I get a chance to roll over, I'll bring you a smorgasboard [sp?] of cables to audition. That ought to save you some dough and lead you in the right direction of what flavor you want.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. I dont know, I think the detail you described was missing at PF -- is here in my rig at home...
Hard to describe - but its much more analytical...
Took some getting use to how precision it was, after listening to the smoothness at PF...
But it is missing the finer textures, which I hope is just my poor burnt copy that errored out after 9 tracks ... lol

I don't have the cables with switches, but I do have a multitude of flavors, a couple of silver cables as well. Yes, It's most likely the burnt CD.....I'll bring the SACD player over too along with the Chesky SACD disc. Hopefully we can find a copy of the BB King album. I wouldnt say its a bad thing -
Most times when things are analytical - they are very dry...
On the contrary, in my system - its honest reproduction, but it still gets your foot tapping and that big grin on your face...

I was very impressed with them at PF after I resolderd the connection for Trey. they had great imaging and a nice soundstage. Thay might go on a short list of speaks to havce one day.
