Front speaker recommendation please
I'm looking to replace the junk speakers I have up front on my home theater. I was too cheap at the time to buy a set of fronts, but I'm ready now.
Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR230
Front center: CS1
Rear center: CS1
Rear: Monitor 30
Sub: PSW10
The room is 12x18 and set up lengthwise. Floor is concrete and has 1/2" carpet on it.
I'm looking for something that can play music, video games and movies very well. Budget is 300-600 dollars. I was considering the Monitor 50s (400) or the Monitor 60s (600)
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not really looking to replace everything.

So, what's the question then? Whether Monitor 60 are better than 50? Of course they are. $200 better? Try to listen to both, and decide which one you want. Monitor 60 usually play music better, but they are taller and a quite a bit deeper, too. Either one will work for you, IMHO, and would be a logical choice if you are not planning to replace other speakers (which you aren't).

The question is what speaker should I get? I'm not partial to the Monitor series, but would like to keep it Polk.
I just want front speakers, not the whole system -

Since the rest of your speakers are Monitors, it's the best to keep at least the front 3 the same. If you'd like to mix the lines, the RTi8 are within your budget and are a very good value now. -
Thanks for the info. What are the sound differences between the two? Does one produce more low end than the other? Wow, can you ever tell I'm a novice

^^^ +1.
then extra money goes for better sub. PSW10 goes silent on movies. IMO -
If you are running a sub, I would go with the Monitor 60's or 50's. I found on there own, they lack bass, and the Rti8's have better low end.

I picked up the monitor 60s for what I thought was a great deal @ $525. I tried the 50s and 60s at the store and preferred the sound of the 60s when matched with my same equipment.
They sound fantastic compared to the old stuff. Thanks everyone! -
Excellent! Enjoy your new speakers. I am glad we could help.

I don't feel the need to upgrade the sub at this time, can you elaborate a little more why I should?
Thanks for the feedback. -
Woops guess I need to read a little more of the thread. Guess I missed the part where he already bought the 60's. LOL
Oh well better luck next time
