I only hear the left when my computer is hooked to receiver

I hooked up my computer to my receiver and all I get is the left speakers.
I tried working with the settings in control panel. Any suggestions?
Everything I own burned in the fire!!!!!!!!!!

    What are you using to hook the two up? Digital or analog? What kind of cable? Is it one of those 3.5" analog to RCA adapters? Have you tried a different adapter? If you swap the right and the left RCA does it come out the other side?

    That is exactly what it is. 3.5 to rca!!!!!!!

    Those 3.5" to RCA adapters come in two flavors, stereo and mono. Are you sure you didn't get a mono one?
