This isn't new territory but I feel like ruminating a bit seeing as I can't actually LISTEN to my (nor anyone else's) gear...

What are your high water marks in listening?

For me:

Magnificent Seven / Planets on The Truth at Casa Grande. That's what started it for me and motivated me to pursue 2Ch with a vengance. I have hear a lot of things since then but nothing has affected me (audio-wise)the way that day back in 2000 did. It's also the reason I'm probably more drawn to planar designs than anything else

Hey Nineteen (SACD) on F1's MF/SDA 2.3tl rig.
This busted my SDA cherry back in '02 or '03. I can STILL hear it to this day and I've never been able to recreate that same impact that the opening of that track on any of my rigs.

Texas - Chris Rea - B&W N801's/Krell rig w/Russman at a shop near McKinney.
Man, that started my love affair w/B&W which I still hold as my holy grail of audio. I remember sitting there and getting shivers listening to that track.

Superspeedway - Russman's B&W 303/Onk HT rig
Gearwise, there are higher tone rigs to be sure but I've yet to hear an HT rig that was as dialed in and seamless (OK, maybe the SRT) as that. For HT, it's never gotten any better than that.

The SRT. Totally unpractical but that's what you get when an audio genius wants to design the ultimate 'blow your hair back' experience.
